Friday Focus:
On Tuesday, we welcomed Mike Smith to speak to us about making a difference.  Mike is the founder of The Harbor, our school culture and climate  series. Mike spent time with some student leaders before speaking to the entire student body.
My favorite quote from Mike was,
“The people who change the world wake up every single day and fight for someone of something bigger than your first and last name.”

Celebrating Our Success!

Congratulations to CTE/PE Division Head, Jeff Bott, on being named the ISBE Those Who Excel Administrator Merit Winner!

The Illinois State Board of Education annually sponsors Those Who Excel to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to our state's public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools. Excellence, Meritorious Service and Special Recognition awards are presented in seven categories: classroom teacher, school administrator/principal, student support personnel (licensed), educational service personnel (unlicensed), school board member/community volunteer; team, and early career educator. Nomination materials are evaluated by a selection committee comprised of individuals who represent a variety of educational organizations. Local school district leaders and members of school communities nominate candidates.

Congratulations to our Girls Golf Seniors celebrating senior night this week!

Look for MSL East's growth spurt to continue
The Daily Herald, August 21, 2018
In the high school football world, the Mid-Suburban East has matured quite nicely recently. Thanks in part to an agreement that limited crossover games with the MSL West to just one per season, the East Division has begun to flourish. Last season, three of its members -- Hersey, Rolling Meadows and Buffalo Grove -- advanced to the state playoffs. It was the first time since 2013 that the conference had three teams advance. More importantly, two of those teams won first-round games, a feat that had not been accomplished since 2009. Read Story

Scouting Buffalo Grove: Bison aim to maintain acceleration
The Daily Herald, August 17, 2018
It will be full speed ahead for Buffalo Grove this year. During the bus ride back from a state playoff loss in East St. Louis last November, Bison head coach Jeff Vlk, his staff and the underclass members of the team began to anticipate the 2018 season. Buffalo Grove was coming off its best season in 25 years with a 9-2 record and a second-place finish in team MSL East. And with a solid corps of returnees from that team, the Bison feel they can make a deep run this season. Read Story
