The Daily Herald, March 13, 2021

No one was pretending that the Mid-Suburban League boys swimming and diving championship meet was just another day on the calendar. In a normal year, this meet would have been just the first of three at the end of the season where the athletes are trying to deliver their very best performances. Read Story

Yearbook Fundraiser - Senior Baby Ads

In the past, the yearbook staff has included a Senior Babies section in the BGHS Yearbook for the parents of seniors. This successful fundraiser has allowed us to have an all color yearbook and add new sections to the yearbook. Once again, we would like to offer BGHS families the opportunity to congratulate their graduates in the 2020-2021 yearbook. This year we are offering a ¼ page option along with the traditional ⅛ page format. The bigger ¼ page ad allows for more photos and a longer message to your graduating senior. Jostens is responsible for the payment and production of the Senior Babies section.  www.jostensadservice.com

  • Click GET STARTED

  • Search Buffalo Grove High School

  • Create a Josten’s account if you don’t already have one

  • Click Yearbook Recognition Ad to register and build your Baby Ad.

Along with your statement, you should include a picture of your son/daughter taken during his or her childhood (ages 1-10).  PLEASE DO NOT SEND RECENT PHOTOS…BABY OR CHILDHOOD PHOTOS ONLYThe image will be professionally sized to fit the designated area.  You can use digital files of your photo or scan/photograph your baby photos to upload to Josten’s. What department do you teach in/ How long have you been teaching at BG?

I have been a teacher at BG for nine years teaching Spanish, mostly for Native Speakers.

Where did you go to high school? I went to High School in my hometown in Andalusia, Spain.

What part of teaching do you find the most rewarding? I take pride in sharing my language and culture with all my students, but the best moments are when my students connect and value their own heritage as part of a community of hundreds of millions of Spanish-speakers throughout the world.

What new thing have you learned this year teaching remotely? I have learned that we can still effectively teach virtually, but really nothing compares to being in a class full of students. I miss the joy and energy within the classroom and the unique daily connections that bring us together.

What are you currently reading, and/ or do you have a favorite author or podcast? I just finished reading Patria (Homeland) by Fernando Aramburu. This novel shows the different perspectives of regular people experiencing the terrorist violence in the Basque Country.

What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? I previously have been involved with the Latino Parent group. Now I like to follow our sports teams, and I especially have enjoyed attending events from our talented fine and performing arts programs.

What is something unique about you? As a student myself I was always more dedicated to sports, but I really appreciate people with artistic talents since I lack them. It is never too late, so I just recently decided to start learning to play the guitar!

The Daily Herald, March 6, 2021

Buffalo Grove's boys basketball team had a solid response Saturday in Mount Prospect. The Bison, who suffered a tough loss Friday to Hersey, came back with a full team effort to roll past Prospect 68-41 in the Mid-Suburban East. It was the second win this week for the Bison over Prospect, a team that eliminated Buffalo Grove from the state playoffs a year ago. Read Story

Buffalo Grove's Craft well-rounded on and off the court

The Daily Herald, February 25, 2021

The full picture. That's what Buffalo Grove boys basketball coach Keith Peterson wants you to see when you are looking at junior Kam Craft. A prolific scorer, Peterson says that Craft is more than that. "The greatest thing about him, is to watch him work," Peterson said. "How much time he puts in. How much he is at the gym. He is always last out of the gym. He makes his teammates hang with him. He makes them better." Read Story
