  • Congratulations to Demetri Lomnick, the new indoor school record holder and Indoor Track Conference Champion in the Long Jump at 21'8.5"!
  • Congratulations to Boys Volleyball as they kicked off their season by sweeping Hoffman Estates!
  • Way to go Boys Water Polo for the amazing 4th quarter come from behind 5-4 win over Metea Valley at the Elk Grove tournament, and on grabbing the MSL East lead. Keep it up!

Buffalo Grove High School students all in for day of service

A funny thing happened to sixth-grader Vincent Diliberto on his way to lunch last week at Thomas Middle School in Arlington Heights. He and his friends found a line of students -- 150 in all -- from Buffalo Grove High School waiting to give high-fives to everyone who walked into that lunch period….In all, more than 2,100 students from Buffalo Grove spread out across the community at 30 different sites in Cook and Lake counties. Buffalo Grove grabs MSL East lead

Kevin Carr had 4 goals to help Buffalo Grove get past Elk Grove 13-3 on Monday in a matchup of Mid-Suburban East boys water polo co-leaders. The Bison (8-1, 3-0) outscored Elk Grove 7-0 in the first period to take control of the divisional race.  Read Story

1. What is your name?  Brian VanderArk
2. What department have you/ do you work in? I work in the Math/Science Department, currently teaching AP Environmental Science and Physics

3. How long have you been working at BG? This is my 23rd year teaching, my 18th at BG.
4. Where did you go to high school? I went to John Hersey High School
5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding?  Getting to know my students and helping them mature into adults.
6. What is something unique about you?  I have 4 kids all within 4 years of age.

7. What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? I coach boys soccer.

The BGPA scholarship application is available in the College and Career Center and on Naviance. ALL BG class of 2017 seniors are eligible. There is no minimum GPA requirement. Applications are due no later than April 4.

Celebrating Our Success!

  • Congratulations ICCA Coach of the Year, Jeff Siegal! The Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association Coach of the Year is someone who has coached for 7+ years and has made a significant impact in cheerleading, their school, and the lives of those they have coached. Among just a few of Jeff Siegal’s coaching achievements in the Coed Division include: finishing 4th in 2011, 3rd in 2012 and 2017, 2nd in 2014, and winning the State Championship in 2013 and back-to-back in 2015 and 2016 – that’s winning 6 straight IHSA State trophies! Borenstein helps Israel to 4-0 start

Former Buffalo Grove standout Zach Borenstein is playing right field for Israel, which has now moved into the second round. After three straight wins to top Pool A in Seoul, Israel opened Pool E at the Tokyo Dome on Sunday with a 4-1 win over Cuba. Read Story

Josh Borenstein, a 30-year-old screenwriter originally from Arlington Heights, Ill., has a screenplay for a movie about Hank Greenberg that he’s shopping around Hollywood. “It’s called “Tiger in the Lion’s Den,” he said. “A couple agencies are looking it. I wrote it a couple years ago.”  Now Borenstein, who used to write a blog about Jewish baseball players, could have a more personal story about an upstart group of Jewish baseball players who took the world by storm.....Josh’s younger brother Zach Borenstein, a 2008 Buffalo Grove High School graduate, was the right fielder for Team Israel in the WBC. Israel bowed out of the tournament Wednesday morning, losing to Japan, 8-3 in the Tokyo Dome. Read Story

1. What is your name?  Mike Naughton

2. What department have you/ do you work in? CTE/PE/Health/Driver's Ed

3. How long have you been working at BG? This is my 4th year at Buffalo Grove
4. Where did you go to high school? Elk Grove High School

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? The potential you have as an educator working with a community that can help shape the future of an individual.
6. What is something unique about you?  My post-high school education has taken me to several different colleges and universities in Illinois.  I attended Harper my Freshman year, then finished my undergraduate degree at Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Health/Physical Education.  I earned a certification in Driver's Education at Olivet Nazarene University.  I am also currently in two Master's Programs, one in Special Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the other one in The Principalship at North Park University.  That is 5 colleges/universities and counting!

7. What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? I am the Head Boy's Tennis Coach and also a Football Assistant Coach.
