Friday Focus:  Kenyan Students Welcomed at BG

We had the pleasure of welcoming two students visiting from Kenya, James and Sanaa, to BHGS last Friday. James and Sanaa, part of the AFS international exchange program, experienced a full day at BGHS, attending classes, a student government meeting and induction ceremony, mini-dance event, and more. The Ebony Club was excited to provide the students with a warm welcome and bag of BG mementos. James (who seemed generally to be quiet and reserved) had an ear-to-ear smile, and he said "I wish I could replay the whole day over again."  When re-capping their day at the evening event, both James and Sanaa mentioned the dance performance they saw and the great day they had at BG.  Please contact http://www.afsusa.org/ if you are interested in more information about the AFS international exchange program.

The Bison announced that longtime Rolling Meadows varsity assistant coach Kevin Geldon would take over as head coach. Even if there is no place like home, Buffalo Grove is finding life on the road. The Bison have yet to practice on their home field or play a home game on the field this season due the wet spring coupled with poor field drainage. Their game Monday with Hersey was moved from Buffalo Grove to Hersey early in the afternoon due to unplayable fields. Read Story

Boys gymnastics: Glenbrook North, Buffalo Grove's Valek shine at Bohl Invite

The Daily Herald, April 8, 2022

The battle for the championship of the 13-team Bob Bohl Invitational couldn't have been any closer Friday night as the final result came down to the last boys gymnast in the last rotation between Glenbrook North and Hoffman Estates. And it was the Spartans who prevailed by a narrow 140.8 to 140.75 margin over the Hawks for the team title as Glenbrook North had just enough points to take home the first-place trophy. Led by all-around champion Ben Valek (55.2 points, 9.20 average), Buffalo Grove placed third with 133 points, followed by Glenbard East (130.2) in fourth, Libertyville (129.8) in fifth, and Glenbrook South (125.4) in sixth.
