Friday Focus - What Every Parent Needs to Know
Link Together Coalition and High School District 214 are both pleased to offer this exciting lecture and discussion program. These sessions will help parents navigate and respond appropriately to their children’s growth and development, anticipate and respond correctly to their children’s behavior, proactively prevent problems, develop mutually respectful relationships, explore fair discipline, maintain effective communication and use problem-solving strategies with their children. Bob Leece, Student Assistance Coordinator at Buffalo Grove High School, has trained thousands of parents over the past thirty years.

Buffalo Grove 21, Deerfield 7:
Host Buffalo Grove got its first football victory for head coach Jeff Vlk -- along with the Bison's first win this season -- in a 21-7 decision over Deerfield on Friday in nonconference play. Chase Marsh scored on touchdown runs in the first and fourth quarters for Buffalo Grove, and Bison quarterback Connor Adams hooked up with Jimmy Trieb on a TD pass in the second quarter. Read Story

1. What is your name? Toni Genova
2. What department do you teach in/ what courses do you teach? I team teach World Literature in the English department with Tom Foster. Also, I am a special education teacher/case manager and teach Strategies for Learning.
3. How long have you been working at BG? I have been teaching at BG for four fabulous weeks.
4. Where did you go to high school? I went to high school at Plainfield Central High School.
5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? The most rewarding part of teaching is the relationships that I have the opportunity to build with students. Whether in the classroom or through coaching, there is no better feeling than experiencing a student discover who they are and who they want to become over four years.
6. What is something unique about you? I am a reality TV star...not really, but my husband and I were on the show Kitchen Crashers this past year on the DIY Network.
7.What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? Currently, I am coaching the poms squad at Hersey.
