Township High School District 214 students join forces to build home for veteran and his family
Chicago Tribune, April 24, 2017
Students at Buffalo Grove High School recently put their geometry lessons to work by constructing walls for a new home being built for a disabled local veteran, who has a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder. "Sometimes, it can take months, or even years, to discover something new." After graduating from Buffalo Grove High School in 2016, Shanker, now a chemistry major at Lake Forest College, recently was accepted into the school's Richter Scholar Summer Research Program. The Daily Herald, April 25, 2017
The seven-hour bus ride Monday afternoon from Pittsburgh was extra special for Team Illinois, which returned home with the championship trophy once again from the annual America's Showcase hockey tournament…."We came out slow (in the championship game), but our skill and determination helped us take over," said Nicholas Christianson, a senior at Buffalo Grove High School who skated all four years for the co-op BG/H/W Stampede varsity, including the team's 2016 state championship season. "It meant a lot to me to go out with the championship. It was awesome getting to play with so many great players from different teams." Read Story
