Friday Focus - Color Guard and Feature Baton Twirler return to BG!
After almost 4 decades without a Color Guard, the Bison Color Guard returned to Grant Blaney Stadium this past Friday night. They were amazing, and added such an incredible visual element to what we do. Additionally, freshman Janelle Vossel brings Buffalo Grove High School a featured baton twirler performance. A special thanks to new coach Emily Bettencourt.

Celebrating Our Success!
- A big CONGRATULATIONS to our Varsity and JV Football teams on their HUGE wins last Friday against Niles West, Varsity 40-7 and JV 48-0, to kick off the 2017 football season!
- Congratulations to Varsity Football player, Matt Majeski, on being selected to wear the #1 jersey this year.
“The #1 jersey in our program is used to recognize the young man on our team who truly embodies what it means to be a Bison football player and live his life at 212. This is a person who puts the team before his teammates and his teammates before himself. He has the values that we expect out of our athletes on and off the field and is always a positive representation of our program with the school and the community. It is more than just a flashy number. It is a way of life for the Bison.” Way to go Matt!
- Congratulations to our Boys Cross Country team on their victory over Schaumburg on Tuesday! Special shout out to Mitchell Guittar, "new course" record holder at the Willow Stream course!

Staff Spotlight
2. What department have you/ do you work in and what do you do? I teach in the English and the ELL department. I am teaching ESL 2, World Literature, and AP Seminar. My schedule adds a lot of variety to my day which is fantastic.
3. How long have you been working at BG? This is my first year teaching at BG. I was at Elgin High School previously, and I'm really looking forward to getting to know the school and my students better. Everyone has been so welcoming.
4. Where did you go to high school? I graduated from Rolling Meadows High School. I may find my loyalties challenged when the BG Hitmen take on the Mustangs in a few weeks... but I'll be wearing BG orange and blue!
5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? I love witnessing those lightbulb moments for kids and then seeing them confidently teach and collaborate with their peers.
6. What is something unique about you? I had the opportunity to try zebra when I was in South Africa a few years ago. It was surprisingly delicious.
7. What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? So far I'm involved with The Harbor, but I'm hoping to coach or sponsor another activity/club this year too.
