Friday Focus - Acapella singers deliver!

Our talented acapella singers delivered Singing Valentine Grams to staff and students on Valentine’s Day this week.







Celebrating Our Success!
  • Congratulations to our Bison Swimmers Kevin Carr, Andy Gontko, Kenny Velu, and Daniel Verdico who had a season best and 5th place finish in the 400 free relay; to Kevin Carr, Andy Gontko, Korie Morris, and Daniel Korol for placing 4th in the 200 free relay; and to Daniel Verdico on his 5th place finish in the 100 meter breaststroke at the MSL Conference meet on Saturday.  
  • NSSEO Board recognized Aby Gonzalez and Megan George for raising awareness of the blind and visually impaired by selling white cane pretzels with braille quotes and donating money to Limbs International. Great work!
  • Congratulations to Dan Suh, who went 6-1 on Board 4 to reach his goal to become a medalist in the State Chess Final! Way to go Dan!

Daddy-Daughter Dance
Buffalo Grove High School’s 2020 Class Board will sponsor its annual Daddy-Daughter Dance for the high school attendance area’s K-6th grade girls and their fathers. Proceeds will help fund Prom and Senior Day. Dads and their daughters will enjoy a semi-formal evening full of music and dancing, as well as games, crafts, a photo booth, refreshments and more. The Bison Boosters are hosting their annual Las Vegas Night on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Ditka's, 2000 West Euclid Avenue, Arlington Heights at 7:00pm. Buffalo Grove cheer coach receives national spirit award

Buffalo Grove High School's Jeffrey Siegal is the recipient of the National Coach of the Year Award for Spirit. Siegal is one of 23 high school coaches from across the country who have been selected as 2017 National Coaches of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations' Coaches Association. Fine arts addition included in $3.75M construction project at Buffalo Grove High School

Later this year, Buffalo Grove High School will undergo construction to expand the fine arts area and update the library and outdoor athletic stadium, under a newly approved $3.75 million project. The 8,500-square-foot addition to the southeast corner of the high school, adjacent to the theater, will include new band and orchestra rooms, improved access to the high school's theater for students and visitors with disabilities, as well as a "facelift" to the existing choir room, said Ted Birren, director of operations for Township High School District 214. Music, theater, stadium upgrades planned in Dist. 214

Northwest Suburban High School District 214 is planning $10.8 million in building additions and upgrades at its schools this summer, including a fine arts music wing at Buffalo Grove High School and small theater at Rolling Meadows High. The projects will wrap up a multiyear district capital program, resulting in $45 million in renovations at all six high schools and the district administration center. Read Story

Staff Spotlight

1. What is your name? Erin O’Donnell


2. What department have you/do you work in and what do you do? PE/Health. I teach Freshman Girls Physical Education and Health Education.

3. How long have you been working at BG? This is my fifth year teaching at BG and seventh year coaching here.

4. Where did you go to high school? Elk Grove High School. Grens, Great Friends :)

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? I love the relationships that I have and am able to create with students both in the classroom and through activities. There is nothing quite like teaching. Everyday is a new adventure and these students make it an exciting ride.  

6. What is something unique about you? I have competed and coached in the IHSA State Cheerleading Championships and won first place doing both.

7. What activities or clubs do you follow? I coach cheerleading and track, and I am a member of the BGHS Prevention Team.
