Scholastic Bowl Team Ranked 3rd in the Nation!
A big congratulations to our Scholastic Bowl Team, currently ranked 3rd in the nation! The Bison recently defeated many of the best teams from Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, and the defending National Champions from Barrington at the Reinstein Varsity Scholastic Bowl Tournament in December. Buffalo Grove went 8-1 to be named co-champs of the Reinstein Varsity Scholastic Bowl Tournament! An additional congratulations to BG’s Rohan Ganeshan on being named to the All-Tournament team!
The Bison Impact:
Congratulations to the Coed Cheer team on finishing 3rd out of 19 teams at the Coed Challenge at Belvidere North! Great way to start the competition season!
Congratulations to the Buffalo Grove Cheer Teams! Both the JV and Varsity teams finished in first place at the Rolling Meadows Invite!
Congratulations to Girls Gymnastics on 2nd place at the Addison Trail Invite!
Congratulations to Holden Wheeler, the new school record holder for 6 dives!

What is your name? Ben Voigt
What department do you teach in/ How long have you been teaching at BG? Music - This is my first year being an “official” classroom teacher at BG, but it’s my 3rd year teaching the extracurricular jazz bands at BG.
Where did you go to high school? Warren Township High School
What part of teaching do you find the most rewarding? As a music teacher, I often get to see students for all four years of their high school experience. My favorite part of teaching is getting to see them mature into young adults.
What new thing have you learned this year as a teacher? As a young teacher, it can be difficult to feel like you know what you’re doing. Especially after the challenges of last year, I feel like I now have a strong sense of confidence in the classroom.
What are you currently reading, and/ or do you have a favorite author or podcast? I am reading The Jungle by Upton Sinclair.
What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo
What is something unique about you? I am an avid hiker. After winter break, my new favorite travel destination is the high deserts of Utah in the winter.

Buffalo Grove holds off Wheeling's rally

It's been a season of big comebacks. And Buffalo Grove didn't want to add its name to the list. The Bison led by 17 points in the second quarter and then watched as Wheeling rallied to cut the lead to just one. But Buffalo Grove dug deep and held off the Wildcats 62-50 Friday in a Mid-Suburban East boys basketball game in Buffalo Grove. Read Story
BG student gears up for success in D214 apprenticeship program

When she was a little girl -- just 7 or 8 years old -- Kristy Rubino started helping her dad fix things. He was a jet engine mechanic, and at home Kristy was often by his side when he was in the garage, helping fix the brakes on the car, complete oil changes or just hand him his tools. Naturally, by the time she was headed to Buffalo Grove High School, Kristy had her eye on the District 214 automotive repair career pathway, and specifically Automotive Systems, or Autos 1. Woodin's late heroics lifts Buffalo Grove by Fremd

Buffalo Grove sophomore guard Connor Woodin spends six days a week practicing his long distance game. The work paid off but it was Woodin's layup with 43 seconds left in the game that lifted the Bison to a 55-53 win in boys basketball action over Fremd Tuesday night. Read Story
Buffalo Grove Tops Wheeling In Rematch

Sometimes you get the feeling of deja vu. That’s what Buffalo Grove had after beating Wheeling 53-32 Wednesday, Dec. 29 in the third round of the Wheeling Hardwood Classic. Buffalo Grove played Wheeling Dec. 17 and won 62-50. The Bison then played on the road against Hampshire the next day and pulled off a 50-43 win. For the second time in two weeks, the Bison played back-to-back games with Wheeling and Hampshire. Read Story
