Bison Academy

Wednesday, February 9th

The next Bison Academy will be on Wednesday, February 9th from 3:15-5:45pm in the Library. The Bison Academy is an extra opportunity for students to get support with their academics from our BGHS Staff and student tutors from the National Honors Society. We will have support in a variety of subjects, as well as access to many school resources. Students can also utilize the Bison Academy as a quiet place outside of the school day that allows them to focus and get work done, with or without tutoring.

This is a drop-in service, meaning that even though each session is 2.5 hours long, students can come and go as they see fit; they do not have to come right at the start and do not have to stay until the end. Please visit https://MrLinh.art/BisonAcademy for a 6 minute video explaining the Bison Academy, and https://MrLinh.art/BisonAcademyCalendar for a Google Calendar you can add to your phone or Google account with all the dates for this semester. Questions? Please reach out to Lisa Raucci at lisa.raucci@d214.org or Brian Linhart at brian.linhart@d214.org.

District 214 Foundation Scholarship Portal Now Open

The online portal is NOW OPEN for all District 214 seniors to apply for scholarships through the District 214 Education Foundation. Please join us in encouraging all seniors to visit the Scholarship Portal -- d214.awardspring.com; also accessible at www.214foundation.org/scholarships. The application deadline is Friday, March 4, 2022. Through the gifts of generous donors, the Foundation is offering nearly $90,000 in scholarships. There are specific opportunities for students who:

  • are pursuing certificates in the trades;

  • are females pursuing careers in STEM or law;

  • demonstrate leadership and involvement at specific high schools;

  • participate in the annual Redefining Ready! competition by posting a 30-second video on Twitter to tell the world how they are college, career, and life-ready beyond a test score.

Awards range from $500 to $8,000. Every scholarship has unique criteria. Some seek high-performing students, while others have no GPA requirement at all. Students will complete a brief profile, which will match them with scholarships for which they are eligible. Once matched, students can apply directly online. A full list of available Foundation scholarships can be found at www.214foundation.org/scholarships. For scholarship questions or general application issues, contact the Foundation at (847) 718-7699 or email foundation@d214.org or brooke.snell@d214.org.
