Advising the Student-Athlete Seminar
December 1st at 7:00 PM
The District 214 Postsecondary Counselors are hosting our annual "Advising the Student-Athlete '' seminar on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 7:00 pm at John Hersey High School (1900 E. Thomas St, Arlington Heights). Elizabeth Thompson from the NCAA will present on how prospective student athletes and their families can navigate the application and recruiting process.
This event is open to all D214 families who want to learn more about the NCAA, what it takes to be a student athlete at the collegiate level, how to register with the NCAA, and a general understanding of the timeline for student athletes. Sophomore and junior families will probably benefit most from this event. If your student is considering participating in athletics in college this event will help your family gain a better understanding of the process, timeline of events and being approved, in addition to what needs to be done in order for your student to have the best collegiate opportunities. Please see Mr. Genovese and Ms. Becker in the College and Career Center for more information.

Girls basketball: Scouting the Mid Suburban League
The Daily Herald, November 14, 2022
MSL EAST Buffalo Grove
Worth noting: The Bison lost 6 seniors to graduation but return Genthner, Thiessen, Askew and Glanz who all have a lot of playing experience. Their length and athleticism will be keys to their success on both ends of the floor. They look to compete in every aspect of the game and let the chips fall where they may. It will be a tough road with top teams competing in their very own Thanksgiving Tournament, the always competitive MSL conference schedule, and the Dundee-Crown Komaromy Classic. "But it is the challenge which makes the sport great," said BG coach Martha Kelly, a former three-sport standout at Driscoll High School. "And look for this team to surprise some teams." Read Story

Girls Swimming: Buffalo Grove dances its way to Lindgren Jamboree title
The Daily Herald, October 8, 2022
The Rob Lindgren Jamboree, hosted by Hersey, is one of the most anticipated events of the girls swim season. Especially by the competitors. "Between the dances in the beginning, and the music blaring right before we swim, it's great to get that good energy going," Buffalo Grove senior Reese Frighetto said. "That showed in a lot of the swims today." "I'll tell you what my girls said -- it's the most fun event they've ever been to," Stevenson coach Jennifer King said of this year's invite, which was held at the pool at Prospect. The meet is also a terrific way to honor Lindgren, a coach, teacher, mentor and passionate advocate for the sport of swimming. Read Story
