Friday Focus:  STATE TESTING - April 11, 2024

All Sophomore and Junior students at District 214 will participate in the state required testing on April 11. The State of Illinois requires that all students take the SAT with Essay in the spring of their junior year as a requirement of graduation from high school. In addition, the state requires all sophomores to take the PSAT 10. Seniors and Freshman students will not attend school on Thursday, April 11th.

Special Test Day Schedule - April 11

Sophomore students - Digital PSAT 10

  • On April 11, Sophomores will take the New Digital PSAT 10 on their iPads.

  • Standard Test Time: 8:30 AM to 11:40 AM.

  • Test end times vary if your student has 504/IEP accommodations (End times linked here).

  • Buses will leave school at 11:55 AM. Some additional shuttles will be available for students with an IEP or 504 who have extended time or modified testing times. (see transportation schedules above)

Junior students - Digital SAT with Essay

  • On April 11, Juniors will take the New Digital SAT with Essay on their iPads.

  • Standard Test Time: 8:30 AM to 12:40 AM

  • Test end times vary if your student has 504/IEP accommodations (End times linked here). Students approved for 100% extended time will have to finish testing on April 12.

  • Buses will leave school at 1:10 PM. Some additional shuttles will be available for students with an IEP or 504 who have extended time or modified testing times. (see transportation schedules above)

IMPORTANT: What to Bring/Not to bring on test days

  •  A fully charged iPad, a pen or pencil, and student ID. There is a Desmos Calculator embedded into the test, but students may bring their own College Board approved calculator

  • Juniors students should also bring an iPad keyboard and a list of up to 4 colleges for score sends. When students take the SAT as part of the school day, they are entitled to send their scores to up to 4 colleges or scholarships programs for FREE.

  • Students should not bring electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches or wearable technology) into the testing room or access cell phones during breaks. Any electronic device brought into the testing room may be collected and its content inspected as part of a thorough investigation. Failure to adhere to this policy could result in a student being dismissed from testing and scores being canceled.

The Daily Herald, April 3, 2024

Art, poetry and fiction writing aren't talents that are supposed to fade away after high school. But adult life often intrudes. The annual Arts Unlimited District 214/Daily Herald Community Arts and Writing Contest primarily celebrates adults in our community who, despite the pressures of adulthood, have continued to pursue their passion for the arts. Teens are allowed to enter, too. Read the Story
