Friday Focus: STATE TESTING - April 11, 2024
All Sophomore and Junior students at District 214 will participate in the state required testing on April 11. The State of Illinois requires that all students take the SAT with Essay in the spring of their junior year as a requirement of graduation from high school. In addition, the state requires all sophomores to take the PSAT 10. Seniors and Freshman students will not attend school on Thursday, April 11th.
Special Test Day Schedule - April 11
Sophomore and Junior students are required to attend testing and will be dismissed upon completion of testing.
Activity buses and athletic buses will run at regular times.
Breakfast/Lunch: Cafeteria opens at 7:45 AM. Bag lunches are available for pickup after testing.
Sophomore students - Digital PSAT 10
On April 11, Sophomores will take the New Digital PSAT 10 on their iPads.
Standard Test Time: 8:30 AM to 11:40 AM.
Test end times vary if your student has 504/IEP accommodations (End times linked here).
Buses will leave school at 11:55 AM. Some additional shuttles will be available for students with an IEP or 504 who have extended time or modified testing times. (see transportation schedules above)
Junior students - Digital SAT with Essay
On April 11, Juniors will take the New Digital SAT with Essay on their iPads.
Standard Test Time: 8:30 AM to 12:40 AM
Test end times vary if your student has 504/IEP accommodations (End times linked here). Students approved for 100% extended time will have to finish testing on April 12.
Buses will leave school at 1:10 PM. Some additional shuttles will be available for students with an IEP or 504 who have extended time or modified testing times. (see transportation schedules above)
IMPORTANT: What to Bring/Not to bring on test days
A fully charged iPad, a pen or pencil, and student ID. There is a Desmos Calculator embedded into the test, but students may bring their own College Board approved calculator.
Juniors students should also bring an iPad keyboard and a list of up to 4 colleges for score sends. When students take the SAT as part of the school day, they are entitled to send their scores to up to 4 colleges or scholarships programs for FREE.
Students should not bring electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches or wearable technology) into the testing room or access cell phones during breaks. Any electronic device brought into the testing room may be collected and its content inspected as part of a thorough investigation. Failure to adhere to this policy could result in a student being dismissed from testing and scores being canceled.

We’re thrilled to share that our BGHS Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at the 2024 Illinois SuperState Festival on Saturday, May 4!
Congratulations to BG Orchesis! Orchesis was selected to be a part of the Illinois High School Dance Showcase at Barrington High School this Friday, April 5, at 7:00 pm. Last month, 43 student choreographed dances were submitted and 14 were chosen for this show. This is the top honor for an Orchesis Program. The Journey, Choreographed by senior Kyana Luyando, was chosen. The dancers are Alex Anagnostakos, Paige Anderson, Isabella Cuffaro, Natalie Larkowski, Kyana Luyando, Katie Mason, Amanda Merret, Mia Passanannte, and Anna Royz.

District 214 College Fair is April 9, 6-8 p.m. at Forest View Educational Center. The D214 College Fair hosts representatives from 200+ colleges, offering students and families insights on courses, admissions and financial aid. Interested students may register in advance at http://www.strivefair.com/. Registering allows students to share information with colleges they are interested in, making the time they spend talking with college representatives at the fair more productive. Go the Extra Mile Solidarity Walk
April 28th 1-3pm at Palatine High School
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and BG is joining forces with District 211 and Palatine High School to raise awareness and walk in solidarity with victims and survivors of sexual assault. Students can CLICK HERE to submit steps or miles throughout the month to help reach the goal of 60,000 miles to represent the number of children impacted by sexual assault each year. Join the final push at the "Go the Extra Mile" solidarity walk on Sunday, April 28th from 1-3pm at Palatine High School. We would love to have you finish off your miles with us on that day!
