Friday Focus - Vienna Exchange Program!
Today we began the 25th anniversary of our exchange program with students from Kundmanngasse Gymnasium in Vienna, Austria.  This annual exchange began in 1990, and has continued with students from Austria coming annually in the fall, and our band, choir, and orchestra students travelling every 3 years to Austria.

A Huge thank you to Ed Jacobi, Deb Utley, and Elizabeth Bennet for their logistical work on this exchange, and for the host families that are giving the students a taste of life in America!
Welcome Kundmanngasse Gymnasium students!!

Staff Spotlight

1.  What is your name?  Jeff Kondrad

2.  What department do you teach in/ what courses do you teach?  Student Services- School Counselor & Off-Campus Coordinator

3.  How long have you been teaching at BGHS?  I have been working in the Student Services Department for the past 15 school years.  Prior to working at Buffalo Grove High School, I started my District 214 career at Prospect High School.

4.  Where did you go to high school?  I grew up in Orland Park, and graduated from Carl Sandburg High School.

5.  What part of school counseling do you find the most rewarding?  I have had the privilege to advocate for students and families at BGHS since 2001.  As a school counselor, I assist students in the areas of academic success/growth, emotional well-being, and college & career exploration.  Watching a student grow and reach their goals over the course of the 4 years at BGHS truly makes my profession rewarding.

6.  What is something unique about you?  Prior to having a family, I worked on a Dude Ranch in Telluride, Colorado for 3 summers.  My roles included a mountain bike tour guide and saddling up the horses in the morning.  It was a true "City Stickers" experience in the Rocky Mountains.  While working on the ranch, I did have a unique experience/accomplishment by hiking to the top of one of Colorado's 14,000 footers.

7.  What activities or clubs do you coach / sponsor?  I coached Freshmen Boys Baseball at Buffalo Grove High School until having children.   Nowadays, I assist with my own kids’ travel baseball programs at the U11 and U12 levels in the community where we live.
