Need Academic Support? Have Missing Assignments?

Bison Academy Tuesday, October 19th

The next session of the BGHS Bison Academy will be Tuesday, October 19th from 3:15-5:45pm in the Library. The Bison Academy is an extra opportunity for students to get academic support from BGHS Staff and student tutors from the National Honor Society. We will have support in a variety of subjects, as well as access to many school resources. Students can also utilize the Bison Academy as a quiet place outside of the school day that allows them to focus and get work done. This is a drop-in service, meaning that even though each session is 2.5 hours long, students can come and go as they see fit; they do not have to come right at the start and do not have to stay until the end.

Please visit https://MrLinh.art/BisonAcademy for a 6 minute video explaining the Bison Academy, and https://MrLinh.art/BisonAcademyCalendar for a Google Calendar you can add to your phone or Google account with all the dates for this semester.

Questions? Please reach out to Lisa Raucci at lisa.raucci@d214.org or Brian Linhart at brian.linhart@d214.org.

Staff Spotlight

What is your name? Keegan Mugerditchian but everyone calls me Mugs.

What department do you teach in/How long have you been teaching at BG? I teach in both the Special Education and Math/Science Divisions. It is my first year in the role of teacher at BG, but I began volunteering with the Football team 5 years ago during college and was an instructional assistant during the 2019-2020 school year.

Where did you go to high school? I graduated from Hoffman Estates High School in 2014.

What part of teaching do you find the most rewarding? The most rewarding part of teaching for me is knowing that I had a positive impact on a student's life. Whether it be academic or personal, knowing I helped a student achieve a goal or become a better person is the greatest reward.

What new thing have you learned this year as a teacher? One thing I have learned this year is how much students value in-person learning and the relationships they can build with both staff and their peers. I have had so many students tell me how glad they are that they are seeing their friends and favorite teachers in person everyday.

What are you currently reading and/or do you have a favorite author or podcast? I am currently reading Grading for Equity and re-reading 1984

What activities or clubs do you coach/sponsor? I coach Football, Wrestling, and Baseball at BG.

What is something that is unique about you? Something that is unique about me is that I had a full beard as a sophomore in high school and started balding as a senior in high school.

Oberman's tackle helps Buffalo Grove top Rolling Meadows

The Daily Herald, October 9, 2021

Host Rolling Meadows had just brought the big Homecoming crowd to its feet when Evan Grace hit Ethan Groak for a 12-yard TD pass to get the Mustangs to within 14-13 with 45 seconds left in the Mid-Suburban East football game. Coach Sam Baker called for a 2-point conversion, and it looked mighty good when Brigham took the snap and made a nifty move to reverse field with seemingly open room to run ahead. But Oberman made sure his team stayed ahead when he met Brigham just shy of the goal line to prevent the additional points and Meadows went on to secure a 1-point win over RM for the second time in a row (15-14 last spring).
