2023 BGHS Distinguished Service Award Winner
Buffalo Grove High School is honored to recognize the 2023 Distinguished Service Award Winner, Collen Wytmar. Behind every successful band program is a successful boosters organization composed of inspirational, supportive, and dedicated parent volunteers. Colleen Wytmar currently serves as Co-President of the Buffalo Grove Instrumental Association, where her leadership and drive were instrumental in a highly successful year for Buffalo Grove Bands. Colleen's support of the Buffalo Grove High School band program is immeasurable. Her outstanding leadership, effective communication, and personal sacrifice of time and effort have created additional resources and experiences for our band students. Colleen led a fantastic team of parents in developing and implementing innovative fundraising efforts to support music education at Buffalo Grove High School. Colleen's leadership has positioned the Buffalo Grove High School band program to experience success for many years to come. Buffalo Grove High School, and its band program, thank Colleen for her leadership and contributions to ensure our students’ experience in band is positive and meaningful. We are proud to call Collen a Bison and to present her with the 2022-2023 Distinguished Service Award. Congratulations, Colleen!
The Bison Impact:
Congratulations to junior Rohan Ganeshan on WINNING the Scholastic Bowl Individual Player National Championship last weekend! Rohan won the Individual National Championship for Scholastic Bowl, beating a field of 186 competitors from across the country, and out scoring his nearest competitor, 69 points versus Rohan's 98 points, per 24 question set! Only one individual in the country wins the Scholastic Bowl National Championship each year, and the 2023 champion is Buffalo Grove's Rohan Ganeshan. Congratulations and good luck at Scholastic Bowl team Nationals in May!
Another hearty congratulations to Rohan Ganeshan on being named to the IHSSBCA (Illinois High School Scholastic Bowl Coaches Association) Class AA First Team All State Team. Rohan is one of only 10 students from across the State to be named to the team. This is Rohan’s 2nd year being named to the team. All-State players will be honored at the IHSSBCA Annual Banquet this Saturday on the campus of Illinois State University.
BGN is proud to share Flightless, a short film created entirely by BGHS students. The film competed against roughly 40 other high school short films from across the state in the 3rd annual IHSA Short Film competition and finished in second place! The film is just 5 minutes but tells a tremendous story and looks like it belongs on the big screen. We hope you will take some time to enjoy the film. CLICK HERE to watch "Flightless" 2023. Summer School Information
D214 has a new summer school program, the D214 Summer Experience. Registration for Summer Experience 2023 is open. A how-to video has been created to help families navigate the registration system, WATCH IT HERE. To register, you will need your student’s D214 student ID number, student’s date of birth, household zip code, and the student’s school. The registration system is mobile-friendly, so you can register anywhere with any device. Please check your email for detailed information from the D214 Academic Programs & Pathways Team that will answer many questions you might have. An early bird discount is available through April 15th.

Buffalo Grove High School junior Rohan Ganeshan won the Individual Player National Championship Tournament sponsored by National Academic Quiz Tournaments. Rohan topped a field of 200 elite quiz bowl players from across the country, en route to his runaway victory on April 2 in Rosemont. Read Story
