Friday Focus: Leftover Halloween Candy?
The Bison Service Club is accepting donations
Bison Service Club is sponsoring their annual Halloween Candy Collection this week and next for any leftover Halloween Candy that you need to get out of your house! There will be donation boxes in the Math/Science Resource area. The Bison Service Club uses the candy throughout the year for:
Bison Service Club provides donations to the Buffalo Grove Police Department which sends the candy to the military deployed overseas.
Bison Service Club uses the candy to attach to cards and notes for local nursing homes, hospitals, and for teacher appreciation cards.
Bison Service Club donates the candy to the PADS Shelter that they volunteer at to provide treats for the people they serve.

4th Annual Trunk or Treat
The 4th annual Trunk or Treat event, organized by our Blue Crew, was a huge success! Despite the chill in the air, over 750 costumed trick or treaters visited the themed trunks decorated and sponsored by various BG clubs, activities and teams.

Charlotte’s Web November 10, 11 & 12
Sensory-friendly performance Sunday 11/12 11:00 AM
The Bison Grove Theatre Company is excited to present the beloved classic, Charlotte’s Web. Performances are Friday, November 10th at 7:00 pm, Saturday, November 11th at 6:00 pm and Sunday, November 12th at 3:00 pm. Tickets are available on GoFan.co and are $10 for adults, $5.00 for children 10 and under and $5 for senior citizens. Tickets will also be available at the door, while supplies last.
A special sensory-friendly, free performance will take place on Sunday, November 12th at 11:00 am. This performance is intended for audiences sensitive to or challenged by a typical theater atmosphere. Tickets can be reserved in advance on GoFan.co. What is a sensory-friendly performance? Here is what audience members can expect:
The house lights will be left on 1/2 to 3/4 brightness. We will never go to blackout in the theatre during the sensory friendly performance.
Audience members are allowed to bring their own comfort items including blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, cushions.
Audio elements will be quieted and disposable ear plugs are available at no cost.
Movement and talking in the audience will not be prohibited or policed.
A simulcast video of the performance will be displayed in the lobby for families who need to move around with greater frequency or who need breaks from the large group environment of the theatre itself.
The cast, crew, ushers, and adult supervisors are prepared for interruptions and audience interaction where necessary/appropriate.

Staff Spotlight - Carson Walker

What is your name? My name is Carson Walker
What department do you teach in/ How long have you been teaching at BG? I teach in the CTE department! This is my first year at BG and I am so blessed and honored to be teaching at BG!
Where did you go to high school/ college? I graduated from Palatine High School in 2018 and then went on to study at Illinois State University. Go Redbirds!
What part of teaching do you find the most rewarding? The part I find the most rewarding about teaching is the relationships I have been able to create with students. Getting to learn about their life, culture, and passions motivates me to be the best teacher I can be.
What’s a bucket list item for you? A bucket list item for me would be to backpack around Europe and experience the many different cultures and cuisines this world has to offer.
What are you currently reading, and/ or do you have a favorite author or podcast? A book that I started reading this week is Atomic Habits by James Clear.
What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? I currently just finished coaching Varsity Football as a position coach for the offensive line. I will coach wrestling as well in the winter season. I look forward to more opportunities to get involved at BG!
What is something unique about you? Something unique about me is I worked an internship as a marketing student at a law firm in Peoria prior to figuring out that I wanted to become a business teacher!
