Inaugural AAPI Student Summit Friday, December 1st
The District 214 Asian Student Associations will present the inaugural D214 Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Student Summit on Friday, December 1st from 10:30 am to 1:45 pm at Forest View Educational Center at 2121 S. Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights. Registration is required. Students can register HERE.
Last year, Buffalo Grove High School’s Asian Student Association proudly hosted a very successful Showcase event. You can watch a highlight video of that event HERE. This year’s D214 AAPI Student Summit will feature keynote speaker Stephanie Lowe presenting the theme “One Voice & Beyond”. CLICK HERE for details. Junior Class Board Sponsors Annual Sock Drive
The Junior Class Board is sponsoring their Annual Sock Drive Monday, November 6 through Friday, November 17! Please consider bringing NEW socks of any and all sizes! Collection boxes will be located by our Main Entrance (Door #1), Theater Entrance (Door #6), the Library entrance or by the Math/Science resource area. All socks will be donated to Journey's, The Road Home in Palatine. They are VERY grateful every year. Please see Ms. Kolodziej in Math/Science with any questions.

Congratulations to sophomore Swimmer Ella Houston on her finish at Sectionals last weekend and qualifying for State in both the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle AND setting school records for both!
Congratulations to senior Swimmer Abby Swanson on her 6th place finish in the 50 Freestyle with a State qualifying time of 24.28 and her 6th place finish in the 100 Freestyle with a state qualifying time of 52.71!
Congratulations to sophomore Swimmer Payton Menely on qualifying for State in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:54.41 at Sectionals last weekend!

Bison Academy Tomorrow!
Saturday, November 11th 8:30-11:30 am
The next Bison Academy is tomorrow in the Library from 8:30-11:30 am. Bison Academy is a free tutoring center that is offered to students that might need some extra support in some of their classes, time to make up work, tests, or quizzes, or just to have a quiet place to study and get work done. This is a drop-in service; meaning that students do not have to come right at the start or stay until the very end. Students do not need to sign up in advance to attend. Charlotte’s Web November 10, 11 & 12
Sensory-friendly performance Sunday 11/12 11AM
The Bison Grove Theatre Company is excited to present the beloved classic, Charlotte’s Web. Performances are Friday, November 10th at 7:00 pm, Saturday, November 11th at 6:00 pm and Sunday, November 12th at 3:00 pm. Tickets are available on GoFan.co and are $10 for adults, $5.00 for children 10 and under and $5 for senior citizens. Tickets will also be available at the door, while supplies last.
A special sensory-friendly, free performance will take place on Sunday, November 12th at 11:00 am. This performance is intended for audiences sensitive to or challenged by a typical theater atmosphere. Tickets can be reserved in advance on GoFan.co. What is a sensory-friendly performance? Here is what audience members can expect:
The house lights will be left on 1/2 to 3/4 brightness. We will never go to blackout in the theatre during the sensory friendly performance.
Audience members are allowed to bring their own comfort items including blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, cushions.
Audio elements will be quieted and disposable ear plugs are available at no cost.
Movement and talking in the audience will not be prohibited or policed.
A simulcast video of the performance will be displayed in the lobby for families who need to move around with greater frequency or who need breaks from the large group environment of the theatre itself.
The cast, crew, ushers, and adult supervisors are prepared for interruptions and audience interaction where necessary/appropriate.

Bison Boosters Winter Sports Yard Signs

As the winter season kicks off, show off your Bison pride to your neighbors and support your student-athlete with a customized yard sign. Orders are due November 19th. Staff Spotlight - Yuny Jimenez
What is your name? My full name is Yunuen Jimenez, but everyone calls me Yuny.
What department do you work in? I am in the Learning Lab located inside the library!
How long have you been working at BG? This is my first year at BG.
Where did you go to high school/ college? I graduated from Von Steuben High School and went to University of Illinois- Chicago. Go Flames!
What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? I definitely think the most rewarding part of working at BG is the relationships you build with both students and staff.
What are you currently reading, and/ or do you have a favorite author or podcast? I am currently reading El amor en los tiempos del cólera by Gabriel García Márquez.
What is something unique about you? There is an island in México with my name!
What’s a bucket list item for you? In México, there are certain towns that are recognized by their traditions, culture, history and cuisine called pueblos mágicos or magical towns. There are currently 177 and I would love to visit them all.
