Senior Parent Night September 4th 7pm
Senior Parent Night is September 4 at 7:00 pm in the BGHS Theater. The Post Secondary Counseling Team will be sharing information on the steps to help your student with post high school planning.
Topics covered will include: University of Chicago Essay Writing Seminar, September 5 during block 5 & repeated block 6 for senior students. An Admissions rep from the University of Chicago will share information on how to write an essay that will set you apart. Please stop in the College and Career Center to pick up a pass to attend the seminar.
The Bison Impact:
Congratulations to Alex Branas who was chosen to wear the #1 Jersey for the Bison Football Team for 2024. Coach Vilk states, “the #1 jersey in our program is used to recognize the young man on our team who truly embodies what it means to be a Bison football player and live his life at 212. This person puts the team before his teammates and his teammates before himself. He has the values we expect from our athletes on and off the field and is always a positive representation of our program within the school and the community. It is more than just a flashy number. It is a way of life for the Bison.”
Congratulations to Boys Golf on their first win of the season in their first home match. The Bison split with Rolling Meadows and Hoffman Estates for their first win of the MSL season! Connor and Cori led the way.
Congratulations to Boys Cross Country on a great start to the season!. Varsity took 3rd and JV took 2nd at the Stevenson invite!

What is your name? Jack O'Neal
What department do you teach in/ How long have you been teaching at BG? Associate Principal of Student Services, 1st year at BGHS, 7th year in D214.
Where did you go to high school/ college? University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
What part of teaching do you find the most rewarding? Working with outstanding colleagues to empower students to encounter and overcome academic, athletic, and social-emotional challenges.
What’s a bucket list item for you? Travel with my family to Ireland. I have visited in the past, but not with my wife and kids.
What co-curricular activities were you involved in during high school and/or college? Football, wrestling, volleyball, baseball, Student Government, DECA, Senior Class, Peer Mentor
What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? None, currently. I enjoy attending any club/activity/athletic event to support our Bison!
What is something unique about you? My legal name is John, but I have always been called Jack.

The Bison rarely looked the part of a division champion until the late season helped Darren Llewellyn's men lift its ninth MSL Soccer Cup in program history. "There were times last year when I didn't think we would make it (through) - but this year, with six juniors playing significant minutes last year, four of which who played nearly every minute (we) should be solid along the back, with 2-3 players who I believe can cause some havoc going forward," said Llewellyn.
