Principal Wardle's Weekly Blog 08/16/24

 Friday Focus:  Welcome back Bison!

It was an exciting first week welcoming back new staff, new and returning Bison, and the Class of 2028!

How does my student pay for lunch?

How do I add funds to my student’s account?

We had a few questions about lunch this week, so we would like to provide some more detailed information. First of all, students are always welcome to bring their own lunch. If a student would like to purchase a meal, in general breakfast is $2.50 and lunch is $4.00 daily. A variety of a la carte and vending items are also available for purchase. You can view the weekly menus, learn more about online food service prepay, and find Meal Benefit Applications on the Buffalo Grove High School website under Parents, then Food Services, or CLICK HERE.

If you would like to apply for free or reduced-price meals, please complete the meal benefits application online through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal under the More/Meal Benefits Tab or print out a hard copy and return it to us by mail. If you do not have parent access to Infinite Campus, please contact our helpdesk at bghshelpdesk@d214.org or call 847-718-4222.

Click here for online application instructions: [English] [Spanish]

Payments can be made at school or online at MySchoolBucks.com. Your student can also add funds to their account by cash or check payable to your student's school cafeteria using this Food Service Prepay Form. Hand it in to any food service cashier. Payments made using checks or cash will be credited to your student’s account by the next business day. Payments made using credit cards at MySchoolBucks.com are generally credited to your student’s account within 24 hours.

Please also be aware that the Fee Waiver process has changed for the 2024-25 school year. It is a separate form and process from the Meal Benefits Application.

Need to report an absence?

Please call the Attendance Office directly at 847-718-4001 (English) or 847-718-4004 (Spanish) to report an absence for your student. The Attendance Office can get hundreds of calls each day. Please be patient. If you get the voice message, please leave detailed information, including your student’s name, ID number, reason for and date of the absence, and your name. It is OK to leave messages about attendance errors or parking pass questions. We listen to ALL messages. We will respond as soon as we can. Please note that you can also report your student’s absence through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Please be patient, all reported absences will be updated by the end of the day.

Need to leave for an appointment?

If a student needs to leave for an appointment during the day, please call the Attendance Office in advance and leave a message with the detailed information. Don’t forget to remind your student! If the student is leaving in the middle of a class period, they need to inform the teacher and stop by the Attendance Office to pick up a pass in order to leave the building. All FRESHMEN students must get a pass from the Attendance Office to leave the building.

The Bison Impact:

  • Congratulations to Swimmer Ella Houston for receiving NISCA All-American honors for her performance at State in the 500 Freestyle! She is only the second BG swimmer in school history to accomplish this!

Chris VanGrondelle Wraps Amazing Coaching Career With Two Final State Qualifiers

Journal & Topics, June 27, 2024

All good things must come to an end at some point, including hall of fame worthy coaching careers. Chris VanGrondelle retired at the completion of the 2023-24 school year, ending a coaching career that many would be jealous of. He was named the badminton coach at Wheeling in 1996 and coached the team through 1999, before moving over to Buffalo Grove in 2000. From 2000-24, VanGrondelle had 69 state qualifiers (counting singles and doubles qualifiers as 1 apiece) and the Bison won 14 team sectional titles. Read Story
