Friday Focus:
Congratulations to senior Dagmara Sobolak! Dagmara is the first student from Buffalo Grove High School to earn the National Community Service Merit Award from the United Nations Association-USA this school year. Dagmara is already listed in the digital feed of awardees, which also highlights the UN Global Goal that each student has made and their impact via community service.
Three tiers of award levels exist to celebrate students who make the decision to invest energy and effort into helping others: Merit (20 hours of community service across 4 activities this school year), Honor (40 hours of community service across 8 activities this school year), and Ambassador (100 hours of community service across 12 activities this school year).
There may be other BGHS students who qualify for these awards. There is still time to apply before the April 15, 2020 deadline. Digital Awards and the National Press Release will be issued in May. There are no fees to the students to receive the awards or apply for consideration. More Information on the award format can be found HERE, or via email at Awards@InnerView.org.
The Bison Impact: Congratulations to Photography students Arina Georgiievska and Madeline Dracopoulos, chosen from more than 450 high school photographers to have their photographs featured in Perspective Gallery's show, 2020 Student Perspectives. Normally these students would be featured in their Evanston gallery, however due to the current situation they will instead be featured on the gallery's website, FaceBook, and Instagram, with hopes for a future in-person show. School districts donate high-demand N95 masks, other PPE items to hospitals and first responders: ‘We’re happy to do whatever we can to assure a healthy community

Suburban school districts have donated thousands of gloves, masks and gowns to hospitals and first responders facing shortages of the personal protective equipment amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. Since schools will be continuing remotely until at least April 30, per Governor J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order, school nurses and officials decided to donate their inventories of equipment to local hospitals and fire departments that need it now. Read Story

Help D214 Students and Families in Need
Those wishing to support our D214 students and families directly amid the C-19 pandemic should do so using the official D214 Foundation online giving page at www.214foundation.org, or CLICK HERE.
The Foundation has committed to a dollar-for-dollar $10,000 match for the initial $10,000 raised, and we know we'll go beyond.
Funds will assist with needs at many levels, and distribution will be coordinated in part through the Foundation's Student Needs Task Force, a group of volunteers who help meet student needs throughout the year. These allocations will be made based on requests from principals in consultation with counselors. This effort is focused on addressing direct, real, pressing needs of students who need assistance now. Funds collected will be prioritized based on need.
