Staff Spotlight
1. What is your name? Linda Byrom
2. What department have you/do you work in? I teach German 2 in the World Languages Department at Buffalo Grove High School, and Geometry at Wheeling High School.
3. How long have you been working at BG? This is my 7th year at Buffalo Grove High School. I really like this school, the atmosphere is very positive and learning oriented.
4. Where did you go to high school? Barrington High School
5. What part of teaching at BG do you find the most rewarding? I love teaching German because we have a great sense of community with the kids who take German, and some of the students get really creative with the language and have fun with it. It’s also very gratifying to see how much vocabulary and skills every student picks up by the end of each unit. In general, I love teaching when the light bulb goes on and students “get it”. I am excited to be teaching Math again after taking a break from it for several years, because I enjoy sharing my love of Math with students and helping them be successful.
6. What is something unique about you? I am a beekeeper. My family has honeybees in Algonquin, and we just extracted honey from our two hives a few weeks ago.
7. What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? I am cosponsor of the German club here at Buffalo Grove High School. Outside of school, I teach German folk dancing and singing to children ages 3 to 14.
