The Bison Way
We would like to recognize students and staff whose actions go above and beyond in their daily lives and epitomize the Bison Way. This week’s outstanding Bison are:
  • Javier Guerrero - Javier is one of the top Varsity Cross Country runners. Everytime he finishes his race, he supports the rest of the team as they finish their race too - up to the very last guy who many times is the last guy in the entire race. He also supports every runner in all the other lower level races.
  • Eric Tejeda - Eric found a wallet in the halls of BG and immediately went out of his way to bring it to the Main Office to be returned to its rightful owner.

Buffalo Grove Student Named To National Ensemble For Second Straight Year
Journal-Topics, October 3, 2018
During the 2017-18 school year, along with other music students across the United States and overseas in military base schools, Buffalo Grove High School senior Janelle Finton practiced with dedication to gain a chair or part in her local, district, and state music honor ensembles. Now, she will join the “best of the best” for the National Association for Music Education’s (NAfME) 2018 All-National Honor Ensembles from Nov. 25-28 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

Overlooked by recruiters, Sean Jacobs keeps churning at Buffalo Grove
Chicago Tribune, September 29, 2018
Sean Jacobs’ goal is to play football in college. Based on his statistics, leadership and knack for making plays, the Buffalo Grove senior linebacker is on track to reach his goal. As a junior, Jacobs racked up 150 tackles, five sacks, two fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown to be named the Mid-Suburban East Defensive Player of the Year. Those kind of numbers in a competitive conference usually would merit plenty of recruiting attention. But Jacobs is coming up short in one vital category: height.

Girls swimming: Jamboree honors Lindgren as Hersey wins championship
The Daily Herald, September 29, 2018
Swimming is a sport that brings athletes from different teams together. The Mid-Suburban League especially emphasizes friendly and fast competition, good sportsmanship, and most importantly, having fun. The Hersey Jamboree has long been the embodiment of these principles and is a meet most athletes look forward to. At the Jamboree the competition is good, but the laughs and cheers are even better. Saturday the Hersey Jamboree honored coach Rob Lindgren, who was influential in inspiring many athletes across the MSL to achieve their goals, while just having fun and a positive attitude. Jeff has led Buffalo Grove and Elk Grove high schools to an impressive collective eight state championships.  Jeff was not only recognized for the accomplishments he has received as a coach, but also for what he has given back to countless student-athletes.
