Friday Focus:  Fall Play Friday & Saturday 7:00 pm

Buffalo Grove High School Theater Arts Program presents 44 plays in 88 minutes in the Fall Play, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind. Don’t miss the chance to see the beloved Chicago original!  Performances are scheduled for Friday, October 19 & Saturday, October 20 at 7pm.  Tickets cost $7.00 each and may be purchased at the door, or online in advance here.

Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind (30 Plays in 60 Minutes), written by Chicago Neo-Futurist Playwright Greg Allen, is presented through special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. Allen collaborated with the high school ensemble to craft this experiment presenting 44 plays in 88 minutes. Each two-minute play is performed in random order with an interactive audience. An onstage timer keeps everyone honest. This collection of comic, tragic, political, personal, and abstract Neo-Futurist plays is sure to entertain!

Girls volleyball: Previewing the Mid-Suburban League championship
The Daily Herald, October 16, 2018
Buffalo Grove is in this match for the first time in four decades. Its last and only other visit was in 1976 when the Bison lost to Forest View. At the time, the MSL's two divisions were the North and South. BG was the North champ and Forest View the South. "It's something really new for us," said seventh-year BG coach Matt Priban. "So I think that's one of the things we are focusing on. We're stepping into this like it is another match -- staying level headed, ready to play and execute." Read Story

Staff Spotlight

1. What is your name?  Brian Hirschauer

2. What department have you/do you work in? Mathematics, Geometry 92/93 (Honors Freshmen)

3. How long have you been working at BG?  This is my first year at Buffalo Grove High School, and third year teaching altogether. My schedule is somewhat unique in that I begin everyday at BG, teaching first and second periods, and then travel to John Hersey High School for the remainder of the day.

4. Where did you go to high school?  Wheeling High School (Class of 2011)

5. What part of teaching at BG do you find the most rewarding? In general, I enjoy working with highly motivated students, which I am lucky enough to do on a daily basis at Buffalo Grove. More specifically I find reducing students’ anxieties and fears about mathematics very rewarding. Even though it is an unattainable goal for all my students to have a deep interest in math; I consider it an enjoyable challenge to convert as many as possible to this belief or at the very least have them say that math is not their worst period of the day.

6. What is something unique about you?  Before becoming a teacher I worked in a pizzeria for 6 years.I am fisherman, and enjoy fishing for lake and river sturgeon.

7. What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor?  I do not currently coach or sponsor any clubs or activities at Buffalo Grove. However, I am an assistant coach of the Hersey Math Team, and have been for 3 years.
