The Bison Impact:
Good luck to Alessandra Bolanos, Lincoln Culp and the District 214 NJROTC Orienteering Team competing in the Navy Nationals for the second year in a row. Orienteering involves an endurance running race while navigating through terrain with a map and compass, no cell phones or GPS. It is very hard to do. They qualified for Navy Nationals by placing in the top two at the regional competition at the Area Three Championships in Ohio. Good Luck to them as they head to Georgia to compete this weekend against the top 27 of the best Orienteering NJROTC teams in the country!
Congratulations to the D214 Winter Guard, VIVA, on winning 1st place in their division at Saturday’s Midwest Color Guard competition at Hersey! VIVA is composed of students from BG, Wheeling and Prospect. This is the second week in a row that VIVA won 1st place! The BG students competing in VIVA are sophomore Gina Deckowitz and junior Orli Argentar. Winter Guard is a competitive performance group which incorporates dance and manipulation of flags, prop rifles and more. Guard provides a creative, competitive performance outlet in a uniquely supportive and diverse community. Fall Color Guard clinics will be this spring and dates will be announced soon. No experience necessary. Contact bgcolorguard@d214.org for more info.
