Principal Wardle's Weekly Blog 03/01/24

 Friday Focus:

“What You Need to Know when Your Child Turns 18”

The Buffalo Grove High School Parent Association will be hosting a presentation on "What You Need To Know When Your Child Turns 18" on Monday, March 18th at 7:00 pm in the BGHS theater. When your child turns eighteen, they are considered legal adults. With this milestone comes some important changes for them, for you, and your family. Once your child becomes a legal adult, your rights to their financial, medical, and educational records are limited without the proper authorization in place. During an unexpected critical situation and without proper documents in place, a parent may find themselves in a position of despair. Get informed, and learn more!

There will be two guest speakers presenting, Alan R. Press, JD, CPA, and Caren E. I. Naidoff, JD, from the Shire Law Group, PC®. Following the presentation, we will have a Q&A session. The event is open to all D214 parents/guardians. Reserve your seat today! FREE TO BGPA MEMBERS - BGPA Members Reserve Here. It is $5 per ticket for non-members, Buy & Reserve Here. Cash only at the door.

***ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO BGPA SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS***

The Bison Impact:

  • Good luck to our DECA students competing at State this week!

  • Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl team on their State Championship 3-Peat! Buffalo Grove won the NAQT Illinois State Championship for the third consecutive year in amazing competition against the very best teams from across Illinois!

  • Congratulations to Scholastic Bowl’s Rohan Ganeshan on being named the top individual scorer at the NAQT Illinois State Championship for the third year in a row!

  • Congratulations to Diver Michael Surowaniec on his 11th place at the State meet last Saturday!

  • Congratulations to Swimmer Edgar Rutkauskas who finished in 8th place in the 100 Breastroke at State!

  • Congratulations to the 2024 Madman Dodgeball champions, the senior team Average Joel’s! Congratulations to the sophomore team, Caleb and Em, on taking 2nd place!

  • Shout out the 2023-24 Girls Wrestling team on a great season! They demonstrated decency, accountability, and the value of cooperation. Despite the fact that wrestling is primarily acknowledged as an individual sport, love and support goes a long way. As the girls Buffalo Grove wrestling season draws to a close, they sincerely appreciate the increasing support they have received from parents, instructors, and students. A special thanks to coach Bryant for teaching patience, discipline, and how to make a scary sport essentially feel less scary. With over ten girls in the lineup this year and hopefully more to follow in the near future, it was a tremendous year for the girls wrestling team!
