Bison in the News

Cook softball notes: Everything’s clicking for Fremd

The Daily Herald, April 30, 2024

Buffalo Grove: The Bison (6-8, 4-4) have won four of their last seven games following Monday's 5-1 loss at Fremd. Leah Hampton has come on strong hitting, batting .533 over the past five games. McKenna Wagner is hitting .444 in that span. "And with Kayla O'Malley and Erin Ryan still hitting above .400, it makes for a tough lineup," said BG coach Martha Kelly. "We continue to make some defensive changes to tweak and see what works. Sammie Kosnoff is still doing her job on the mound getting timely strikeouts and keeping us in games." Read Story

Boys volleyball: Hersey soars to championship at Palatine

The Daily Herald, April 20, 2024

Buffalo Grove won the bronze flight. The Bison defeated both Prospect and Glenbard North in three-set matches to win that title, David Hill led the Bison (10-8) with 35 kills with many of them coming off the setting of Micah Cho. Read Story

Girls soccer: Buffalo Grove blanks Prospect

The Daily Herald, April 5, 2024

It was a tale of two halves Friday afternoon at Grant Blaney Stadium. Host Buffalo Grove struggled during the first 40 minutes, then turned things around with a terrific second half of play to claim a comfortable 3-0 victory over Prospect. “Our energy wasn’t where it needed to be in the first half, but we talked about that at the break, and it helped us come together to play a much better second half to get ourselves an important win in our division,” said Bison senior Taylore Camel, who bagged one of three second half goals. Boys volleyball: BG finishes strong to down Prospect

The Daily Herald, April 5, 2024

Back in 1994, when Prospect boys volleyball MIke Riedy was in his second season, Tim Kosiek was a back row player for Schaumburg. Little did Kosiek know he'd one day be the head coach at Buffalo Grove and facing Riedy in his 30th season at Prospect. "He is a good friend and has been a bit of a mentor to me," Kosiek said of the Mid-Suburban League all-time winningest boys volleyball coach (562 wins in 30 seasons) and nearly 1,000 wins when combining his years as the Knights girls coach.  Read Story
