  Friday Focus:

Golfer Courtney Beerheide to Compete at USGA Championship

Buffalo Grove High School freshman Courtney Beerheide is playing in the United States Golf Association (USGA) Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship this weekend in DuPont, WA at The Home Course. She and her teammate, McKenna Nelson from Beaver Dam, WI are two of the youngest players in the field of 64 teams (128 players) playing in the event. The field this week ranges in age from 13 to 64 years old with competitors from all over the world including 28 states and 10 countries. They qualified last September at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Golf Club in Rockford shooting a 65 or 6 under par on the par 71 course. Any USGA championship is the highest level of golf that a player can participate in during their career. Courtney and McKenna will play on Saturday and Sunday and then the field will be cut to 32 teams starting Monday until a champion is awarded on Wednesday. Congratulations and best of luck to Courtney this weekend! You can follow along at:

Baseball: Hulligan, Buffalo Grove bats rumble past Barrington

The Daily Herald, May 5, 2023

Mason Hulligan and Buffalo Grove tamed Barrington. Again. Hulligan, who beat the Broncos in his first career start a year ago, found ways to make the pitches and plays when needed Friday. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Grove bats came alive as the Bison rumbled past Barrington 13-3 in five innings in Buffalo Grove. It was Buffalo Grove's fourth consecutive win over Barrington in the past 2½ years. During that span, the Bison have beaten the Broncos twice during the regular season and twice in the Mid Suburban League championship game. Read Story
