BG Artists’ Work on Display at Local Gallery

Three BG artists, Angelina Zayats (junior), Cassandra Dracopoulos (sophomore) and Savannah Millington (freshman), will display their artwork in a show called “214 Rising” at The Empty Corner gallery in downtown Arlington Heights. “214 Rising” showcases artwork from students throughout District 214. The Empty Corner is a gallery and creative event space owned and run by former D214 art teacher Liz Schrenk and former BG student Conrad Weres. All are invited to come support our artists and check out their artwork at a reception at The Empty Corner on May 22nd at 6:00 pm. The show will run from May 15-June 2.

The Empty Corner is located at 214 E. Grove Street in downtown Arlington Heights. BG alumni Christy Weber, Alena Heath (class of 2022) and Kiersten Hung (class of 2023) are part of the team at The Empty Corner and the adjacent Something Blue Photography Studio.

The final two opportunities for students to attend the Bison Academy are on Saturday, May 20th from 8:30-11:00 am and Thursday May 25th from 3:15-5:45 pm in the Library.

The Bison Academy provides a chance for students to get extra support in specific subjects, work on missing assignments, make up tests or quizzes their teachers provide, or just use the library as a quiet place to study and get work done. This is a drop-in service, so students can come in at whatever time works for them, and can stay as long as they want. Students can enter at the main entrance (Door #1) by the gymnasium. Journal & Topics, May 17, 2023

Buffalo Grove pitcher Mason Hulligan has quietly put together a magical season, currently posting the most wins in Class 4A, according to MaxPreps, out of teams that make their stats known. Whatever Hulligan did in the offseason has worked out for the pitcher this season as he’s posted a 9-1 record in 10 appearances, spotting a spectacular 1.73 ERA along the way. The nine wins are tied for a school record for a single season by a pitcher at Buffalo Grove. Read Story
