Friday Focus - US Department of Education visits BG!
On Thursday, two members of the Department of Education come to tour Buffalo Grove High School.  Their interest was in the unique industry-recognized certification programs offered to students at Buffalo Grove.  The U.S. Department of Education is determining the best way to help students be both college and career ready, and have found a successful model at Buffalo Grove!

The courses that they specifically came to see started with our Athletic Training Certification course, offered to seniors as a PE course.  At the end of this course, students can take the A.C.E. (athletic trainer certification), which is widely recognized and respected throughout the healthcare industry.

In addition, they toured our ProStart Foods program, which has resulted in every student in the past 10 years receiving a partial or full scholarship to culinary school!  They also saw our Fashion pathway, in which students receive up to 6 college credits, the new Art Gallery, in which alumni are currently sending artwork for display, and our new Entrepreneurship class, partnering with several local business leaders.
All of these courses fall into a career pathway for students with interest and aptitude in these areas.
