BGHS 2022 Distinguished Service Award
At last night’s District 214 Board of Education meeting, Mark Dierbach was recognized as the 2022 recipient of the Buffalo Grove High School Distinguished Service Award. Mark Dierbach has been an incredible asset to Buffalo Grove High School since first joining the Bison Booster Athletic Parent Organization as a liaison to our large football program. In this role, Mark coordinated a weekly newsletter for families, identified and tapped new parents to engage positively with the program and even served as our first ever boys lacrosse liaison helping to provide leadership to this fledgling program. Through these experiences, Mark became a natural pick to step up and lead our parent organization as President in 2021-22.
In this role as President of the Bison Booster Athletic Parent Organization, Mark has done an exceptional job navigating the complexity of a global pandemic while still serving athletes and our community. He instituted new fundraisers, managed volunteer resources and placed an emphasis on increased and thorough communication to all 450 athletic families.
In addition this year, Mark has organized the "League of Presidents" arranging for cohesive connections between ALL BG parent organizations. Through this effort, Mark has improved the connection of social media advertising between each group's efforts and helped to promote the continued vision of #oneBG throughout our supportive parent community. Mark has made an indelible mark on Buffalo Grove High School during his leadership and we are thankful for his dedication to BGHS!

Congratulations to Orchesis dancers and choreographers Lucia Caringella and Amanda Kim who’s dance, “Metro”, qualified for the State showcase! Buffalo Grove is one of only twelve high schools selected!

Model UN Celebrates Successful 2021-22 Season
This week the BGHS Model UN Club ended the 2021-2022 year with a bang! The outstanding year concluded with a party celebrating the club's accomplishments and a gavel presentation ceremony for seniors Zachary Duvel, Ariella Duvel, Mia Roque, Paddy Bateman and Victoria Gauza.

The Buffalo Grove High School Parent Association (“BGPA”) and donor Mrs. Jackie Sell are pleased to award scholarships to recognize the achievement of our students. What is your name? Hello, my name is Aleida Aldana.
What department have you/ do you work in? I work in the Attendance Office.
How long have you been working at BG? I started on February 22, 2022!
Where did you go to high school? I'm class of 2001 from Prospect High School ;)
What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? I love being able to help out a student and get them to smile.
What are you currently reading, and/ or do you have a favorite author or podcast? I'm currently not reading anything at the moment, I do enjoy reading biographies.
What is something unique about you? We have a family horse in Elgin. He is very kid-friendly and well behaved. He stays at a ranch where we rent a stable and we spend the summers riding him.
What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? What activities at BG do you follow? I'm definitely planning on getting involved in the future. I'm looking forward for my days at BG.
BG Announces First-Ever STEM Fair!
April 23rd 12:00-3:00 PM
The Freshman Classboard is hosting BG’s first-ever STEM Fair on April 23 from 12:00-3:00pm! The fair will consist of two categories: Science and Engineering. Students will create a project within the two categories and showcase it to a judge for evaluation. There will be 1st place winners in each category, as well as 2nd and 3rd place winners. Attendees at the fair will have a chance to participate in a variety of small STEM competitions, DIY projects and will gain a taste of BG’s STEM atmosphere.

Scouting the 2022 baseball season in the NW suburbs

Buffalo Grove is the defending Mid- Suburban League champion, and the Bison are looking to repeat. They return Jack Alport who hit .330 and threw 55 innings with an ERA of 2.16. Alport was the MSL East player of the year and has committed to Beloit College. Alex Beihoffer, Matt Wolverton Jake Jacoby, and Payton Diaz also return while St. Viator transfer Dennis Ratzki should also help, giving the Bison a solid outfield.
Sweetheart Dance! Saturday April 9th 6:00-9:00 pm
Formerly known as the Daddy-Daughter Dance, the Sweetheart Dance is open to any parent/guardian and their child, preschool age and up. Yes, it will all be here: balloonist/ DJ-MC/ and photo booth along with the usual crafts & games! The cost is $30.00 per family. Register by email to Lily Justiniano at lily.justiniano@d214.org.
