Friday Focus  -   BG Jazz Band in the community
IMG_5850.JPG
In early April, our Jazz 1 students were able to perform at a professional venue, Durty Nellie’s, in downtown Palatine.  Some of the tunes played included Vine Street Rumble (Count Basie), My Romance, Groove Blues (Louis Bellson), When You're Smiling (composed by BG Assistant Principal Mark Schaetzlein's uncle, Larry Shay), and Time After Time.

If you are looking for some entertainment this weekend, on Sunday, April 24th, the Jazz 1 students perform again at FitzGerald's in Berwyn.  They will be playing many of the same tunes listed above from 5:00 - 5:40pm.  Fitzgerald’s is well-known for great jazz music, as the Stan Kenton Band played there this past Sunday and the Count Basie Orchestra played there 2 weeks ago.  Come support BG fine arts!
