Friday Focus:
Please join our talented students as they test their improvisational skills based on ideas from the audience. Each show will be unique! Performances are on Friday October 7th and Saturday October 8th at 7 pm in our theater. Tickets can be purchased here. Tickets are $7 if purchased online, $10 if purchased at the door. We hope to see you when the curtain rises!

At the Deerfield Regional, freshman Courtney Beerheide rocked a 76 (T4) to advance to next week’s IHSA Sectional! Congrats and good luck Courtney!

RETAKES / MAKE UPS FOR ALL GRADES is OCTOBER 27th from 8:30-3:00 at Buffalo Grove HS. There are no appointments. Students should report to the Community Room whenever their schedule allows.

If you signed up for a session after November 30th, please come to school dressed for portraits on October 27th or schedule an earlier sitting so we can get your image for the yearbook.

Staff Spotlight
What is your name?
Manuel Aguirre-Garcia but everyone calls me "Manny"
What department have you/do you work in?
I work in the fine arts department. The best department in my humble opinion.
How long have you been working at BG?
This is my first year working as a teacher at BG.
Where did you go to high school/ college?
I actually graduated from Buffalo Grove High School in 2014. It's been so neat getting to work with some of my all time favorite teachers. It's also very nostalgic teaching in the same room where I had my art classes. I also went to Harper College for two years and then transferred to Elmhurst University.
What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding?
Watching students become their own best cheerleaders! I teach my students to be kind to themselves. When they say "I can't do this" I reply with "you mean, I can't do this YET." It's something that they adopt in their way of speaking. When I catch them embracing the struggle instead of running away from it I get a huge burst of joy.
What are you currently reading, and/ or do you have a favorite author or podcast? I am currently re-reading Limitless by Jim Kwik. Amazing book about how to learn anything faster.
What is something unique about you?
Something unique about me is that I started thinking about retirement when I was 23. Not because I don't like teaching. I LOVE teaching. I started thinking about retirement and personal finance because it's my goal to change my family tree. I want to be the first person in my family to be excellent with personal finance. There were many people who made the right decisions in order for me to be here today. I want to keep that going for those who come after me.
What’s a bucket list item for you?
Skydiving! Perhaps meeting Gordon Ramsey as well.
