Friday Focus - DECA students compete at national competition!  
Several students competed this past weekend at the National DECA competition.  Congratulations to Zoey Robertson, Jessy Syed, Jacqueline Bickhaus, Christina Ruterschmidt, Lauryn Lintner, Alfred Roberts, Cody Kipley, Jack Vaselaney, and Troy Nelson.  A special congrats to Adrian Gaucin and Tyler Lubbat on their 6th place finish in the Personal Finance Virtual Business Challenge, and Julie Roser who finished top 20 in Principles of Marketing (43,000 teams competed)!

Baseball: Deeply satisfying finish for Adams, Buffalo Grove

Connor Adams likes going deep. The Buffalo Grove junior, who is also the starting quarterback on the football team, had his second strong effort in a row for the Bison baseball team. Adams went all 7 innings for Buffalo Grove on Friday. He stymied Conant, holding the Cougars to 6 hits as the Bison rallied late for a 3-1 victory in a MSL crossover game in Buffalo Grove.  Read Story

District 214 students celebrate the arts during 42nd annual 'Arts Unlimited' event

Hundreds of student actors, artists, dancers and musicians recently honored and learned more about the arts during Township High School District 214’s “Arts Unlimited” event.  At the 42nd annual event in Arlington Heights, Kate Hutchinson, an author, English teacher and former fine and performing arts coordinator at Buffalo Grove High School, urged students, parents and educators to protect and nurture the fine arts in the face of what she described as “STEM fever” sweeping the nation.

There may not be a more closely contested boys volleyball match this season than the one Tuesday night at Wheeling. The Wildcats and visiting Buffalo Grove slugged and defended their way through 2 games that saw the score tied 32 times, and the lead changing hands 16 times. Read Story

2. What department have you/do you work in and what do you do? Foreign Language, Social Science, and World Languages

3. How long have you been working at BG? 23 years

4. Where did you go to high school?  Fremd High School

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? Watching young people grow up to responsible educated citizens in today's ever changing culture.
6. What is something unique about you?  I enjoy running, working out, and reading on the beach with Mrs. Schoffstall, and our boys.

7. What activities or clubs do you follow? I currently coach Freshmen Girls Soccer at BGHS, and I also coach boys basketball for Fremd Feeder, and AAU.

  • A HUGE congratulations to Emilija Davitkov and Alexandra Kirov, winners of the 2018 Chick Evans Scholarship for Caddies! The Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for golf caddies and is awarded based on strong caddie record, excellent academics, and outstanding character.
  • Congratulations to senior Tyler Lubbat on being one of only twelve students in the United States selected to the Bassmaster All-American team! He’s the 1st student ever to be chosen two years in a row! Congratulations, Tyler!

Arlington Heights native Doug Ghim relives Masters experience

AUSTIN - University of Texas golfer Doug Ghim is an Arlington Heights kid. He went to Buffalo Grove High School and last week, played in the Masters. Ghim not only played, but was the only amateur to make the cut. He provided a couple of highlight reel shots with his dad carrying the bag. It doesn't get much better than that. His trip to Augusta ended with a chip-in from the bunker at the 18th on Sunday in front of a massive crowd. Dan Roan talked to Doug via Skype this week. He said it didn't take him very long to figure out he wasn't in Austin anymore. Watch the Interview

Deft defender Kendra Lee anchors Buffalo Grove's back line

Kendra Lee is not looking forward to the day when she has to give up being a multi-sport athlete. But that day won’t arrive for some time. Even though Lee is only a sophomore, she’s set to earn her fourth varsity letter this spring. She already has played two seasons as a shooting guard on the Buffalo Grove girls basketball team, and she’s in the midst of her second season on the soccer team.  Read Story

12 NAMED TO BASSMASTER HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICAN FISHING TEAM

Tyler Lubbat, Wheeling, IL.:  A senior at Buffalo Grove High School, Lubbat is the first repeat qualifier for the Bassmaster High School All-American team, having been selected for the honor in 2017. He placed in the Top 5 of nearly every tournament he has entered in the past 12 months. He won five of those events, including the Illinois High School Association State Championship.  Read Story

Boys water polo: Repeat MSL title matchup features Barrington, Buffalo Grove

It will be a rematch from last year in the Mid-Suburban League's boys water polo championship game. Barrington clinched its spot by defeating visiting Hoffman Estates 11-7, while Buffalo Grove notched another trip to the title game by pulling out an 8-7 double-overtime victory at Prospect. State champs again, Stampede Hockey team receives recognition from Arlington Heights

After winning a state championship in hockey for the second time in three years, student athletes from Buffalo Grove, Hersey and Wheeling high schools recently took another victory lap. Officials from Arlington Heights decided to honor the students who are a part of the Stampede Hockey team for their latest accomplishment during a village board meeting April 16, handing the team a special proclamation. 1. What is your name? Caroline Wootton

2. What department have you/do you work in and what do you do? I work in the Technology Department (Help Desk)

3. How long have you been working at BG? I have been here 5 years

4. Where did you go to high school?  Arlington High School (a District 214 School)

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? Working with the students and staff, whether it is helping with ipads, laptops, printers or projectors.  I love being busy and getting a lot of work done. Going home exhausted from being busy is very rewarding for me.
6. What is something unique about you?  I have been with the district 15 years, 10 of them were at Rolling Meadows High School. I worked as the Health Clerk for 5 years and then in the Library for 5 years.

7. What activities or clubs do you follow? I do not coach or sponsor any activities.  But I do follow Bowling and Badminton because I played these when I was in High School and so did my daughter.
