Friday Focus  -   A great week for the Fine Arts and Athletics
FullSizeRender (12).jpgLast night, I saw our spring musical, Sweeney Todd.  I was blown away by the
musical score, the set, the acting, and beautiful voices of this musical.  Here are a few pics from last night.  There are two performances, tonight and Saturday evening at 7:00pm.  Hope you can make it!

Yesterday, we brought in John Underwood and The Life of an Athlete program to BG.  In the morning, 600 student athletes spent 90 minutes with John and learned the best and most recent research on peak human performance.  Areas covered included nutrition, sleep, exercise, human grown hormone, and effects of drugs and alcohol on the brain.  Our coaches spent time with John during the day, and we held a parent session last night. I foresee the information from yesterday having an incredibly positive impact on our athletic program. Thank you Link Together Coalition for their support of this project.  Check out John's website for more information.

Buffalo Grove welcomes back healthy Daniel Gerovoy to its lineup
Chicago Tribune, April 13, 2016
Daniel Gerovoy is not all the way back, but he's pleased to be where he is.  The Buffalo Grove gymnast competed in pommel horse and vault on April 8 at the Robert Bohl Invitational at Mundelein. His scores of 6.70 on the pommel horse and 8.50 on the vault were irrelevant.  What mattered was the competition, his first since suffering an injury on March 12 during a dual meet against Niles West. District 214 students build house for injured veteran
The Daily Herald, April 11, 2016
Paulie Domian spent Monday measuring, drilling and nailing lumber. He checked blueprints and worked with his team to make sure the exterior wall of the house he was working on came out just right.  Domian isn't a professional contractor. He's a 16-year-old student at Buffalo Grove High School who, with his Geometry in Construction class, is helping build a house for injured Marine veteran Cody Evans.  Read story

NW suburban high school students helping build home for marine
WBBM Newsradio, April 11, 2016
A Marine who lost both legs in Afghanistan is getting a new home, thanks in large part to students from the northwest suburbs. Cody Evans' home will be in Tennessee but many of the parts of the wheelchair accessible project are coming together in District 214 high schools. Read story

Baseball: Vaselaney, Buffalo Grove emerge victorious

The Daily Herald, April 11, 2016
Buffalo Grove pitcher Jack Vaselaney couldn't have drawn a tougher assignment. The sophomore was facing two-time defending Mid-Suburban East baseball champion Elk Grove and East player of the year Christian Camacho in the opening game of the MSL season.  Undaunted, Vaselaney outdueled Camacho to help the Bison to a 3-2 victory Monday in Buffalo Grove.  Read Story
