  • Congratulations to our Varsity Football team on opening their season with a 49-19 win over Downers Grove North.
  • Not only did the Bison get their first win of the season, but 3 year starter Connor Adams became Buffalo Grove's all time leading passer!  Over 4,000 yards for his career and still counting!  Congrats to Connor who is forever etched in the Buffalo Grove Football history books!
  • Congratulations to the Varsity Soccer on their 4-3 win over Wheeling!

District 214 is excited to announce the launching of the Future Ready Parent Series!

The Future Ready Parent series will consist of classes and seminars throughout the 2018-19 school year that provide the community with relevant topics affecting today’s youth. Registration for each class is required. Some of the upcoming classes include:
  • What Every Parent Needs to Know with presenter Bob Leece, student assistance coordinator at Buffalo Grove High School, on Tuesdays from September 11 through October 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Buffalo Grove High School ($30/person fee payable by cash or check at the first class)
  • 5 Things Great Students & Parents Do and The Growth Mindset with presenter Patrick Donohue, an author and certified coach, on Monday, September 24 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Forest View Educational Center
  • Vaping: What Parents Need To Know with presenter Dr. Aaron Weiner,  PhD and Director of Addictions at Linden Oaks Behavioral Health, on Wednesday, October 17 from 7 to 8 p.m. at John Hersey High School
  • Successful Parenting – Raising Independent Children into Adulthood with presenter Jacqueline A. Rhew, author and clinical consultant and liaison for Amita Health, Wednesday, November 14 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Forest View Educational Center
  • Behavioral Health & Your Teenager with presenter Cathreen Fay, MSN RN, Clinical Nursing Transformation Leader Behavioral Health at Northwest Community Healthcare, on Monday, December 3 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Forest View Educational Center

Big wins for Buffalo Grove, Hersey
The Daily Herald, August 24, 2018
Buffalo Grove's football team got off to a winning start by claiming a 49-19 over host Downers Grove North on Friday in nonconference play. The Bison roared to a 28-6 lead by halftime as Tom Trieb rolled to 4 rushing touchdowns, including a 69-yarder.

Girls volleyball: Scouting Northwest

Outlook: Coach Matt Priban has one of his more experienced teams as he returns six players from a team that finished second in the MSL East last year. Ferriss and Streckert were all-conference selections last year and a big part of the success that the Bison enjoyed. "Our goal is to build on that success," Priban said. "And we want to look for improvement throughout the season. The girls on this team have bought into the process and are excited to start competing." Read Story

Tom Trieb, Buffalo Grove: This senior wasted no time putting his imprint on the season, getting 4 touchdowns in the first half at Downers Grove North as the Bison rolled to a 49-19 victory. Trieb finished with 152 yards rushing on 21 carries and had one scoring run of 69 yards. Read Story

Girls swimming: BG displays winning spirit against Schaumburg

Among the first girls swimming and diving dual meets of the Mid-Suburban League season was one featuring a pair of teams undergoing dramatic identity changes.

Host Buffalo Grove claimed victory 114-72 against Schaumburg on Wednesday, but it's fair to say that both teams like the new, improved versions of themselves. Read Story

Football Week 1 Roundup: BG QB Adams Breaks Career Record

Buffalo Grove 49, Downers Grove North 19: Connor Adams (10-for-17 passing, 148 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) became Buffalo Grove’s all-time leading passer. Bison back Tommy Trieb, who will play at NIU, had a monster game, rushing for 152 yards on 21 carries and 5 touchdowns. Sean Jacobs (16 tackles), Andrew Polk (14 tackles) and Luke Muscarello (12 tackles) led the Bison defense. The Bison led 35-6 entering the fourth quarter. Read Story

Staff Spotlight


1. What is your name? Cuauhtemoc Mendez, most people call me Mendez.

2. What department have you/do you work in and what do you do? I am currently Lead Building Maintenance of Buffalo Grove H.S.. Before that I was with Central Maintenance HVAC Technician, and Fleet and Equipment Mechanic.

3. How long have you been working at BG? Going on two months, but with the District for almost 4 years.

4. Where did you go to high school? Waukegan High

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? I think it’s a bit too early to pick one, but getting to know the BG staff and students are definitely up there.

6. What is something unique about you? I have always had a curiosity to know how things work and function, I guess that's how I got into repairing equipment.

7. What activities or clubs have you been involved in, or what hobbies do you have? My activities and hobbies have taken a back seat for now because I am attending college, but I love to work on cars and equipment, go camping and sitting around a campfire with friends and family.
