Friday Focus: Link Together reinforces positive messages for our students

YOU are your teen’s #1 influence. The PARENT tab on the Link Together website, www.linktogethercoalition.org, shares information from the Talk They Hear You national campaign provided by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration).

The Link Together Coalition provides prevention efforts to all D214 high schools and feeder middle schools within Wheeling Township. Social Norms is an evidence-based campaign aiming to change student behavior by correcting misperceptions of peer norms. It is typical for most high school students to think more of their peers are using alcohol than actually are. Data from our schools supports this. If a student believes this misperception, they are more likely to try drugs or alcohol.

Link Together Coalition provides students with education and programming that helps create a healthier culture at our school. This year’s poster series was developed by staff from Link Together and approved by the State of Illinois Department of Human Services. They surveyed a large quantity of students from our schools to choose the most appealing and effective series.

Thank you for empowering our youth to be drug and alcohol free.

Start Your Engines!!!!!!!!! Drive 4 UR School Event 9/25 3:45-8:00 pm
Many of you will recall a fun event we have hosted at BG twice in the past years.... Drive 4 UR School! This is the event where Arlington Heights Ford brings over 20-25 brand new Ford cars (essentially one of every kind) to the school for free test drives.  For every person (one per household) who takes or participates in a test-drive in a Ford vehicle during our event at BGHS, Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to Buffalo Grove High School. In total, as much as $6,000 could be raised! There is no charge to take a test drive. There is no hassle, just tons of fun. A test drive takes about 10 minutes.

On behalf of the Buffalo Grove HS Athletic Department and Bison Boosters, we HIGHLY encourage you to take a small amount of your time to help us raise easy funds for the athletes of BGHS. Please mark your calendars and invite family, friends and neighbors to join in supporting Buffalo Grove High School athletics.
