Kate Hutchinson reads from her
new book, "Map Making"
This past Wednesday, One Grove Gallery served as the backdrop for a new book release by Buffalo Grove english teacher Kate Hutchinson.  The book is entitled “Map Making”, a collection of poems describing the lives of suburbanites.  It was a wonderful celebration of the arts, of pursuing one’s dreams, and of Kate Hutchinson.

Staff Spotlight

Ms. Stock teaching Geometry!
1.  What is your name?  Laura Stock

2.  What department do you teach in/what courses do you teach?   I am a Special Education Teacher, and I teach Algebra 61-62-63 Freshman Block with Mr. Priban, Geometry 64-65 with Mr. French, and Strategies for Learning.  I also have about 20 students with IEP's that I oversee throughout their four years of high school.

3.  How long have you been teaching at BGHS?  This is my 24th year at BG.

4.  Where did you go to high school?  Prospect High School

5.  What part of teaching do you find the most rewarding?  I always root for the underdog (I'm a Cub fan), so I really enjoy helping students with disabilities or other obstacles to realize that with hard work and perseverance, they can achieve any goal they set their mind to.

6.  What is something unique about you?    I love animals, nature and the outdoors. Growing up, I spent a great deal of time at my grandparents' cabin in northern Wisconsin. Now as an adult, I own my own lakeside log cabin.

7.  What activities or clubs to do you coach/sponsor?  Currently, my after school time is dedicated to helping students.
