Bison Boosters Las Vegas Night
The Bison Boosters are hosting their annual Las Vegas Night to be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Ditka's, 2000 West Euclid Avenue, Arlington Heights at 7:00pm. Frozen Fantasy Tea
The Orchesis dancers would like to invite you to a Mother/Daughter Tea on Saturday, January 21, 2017.  The Frozen Fantasy Tea features a special winter themed afternoon of fun, including:  a performance by BGHS Orchesis, Dance Skill Lesson, Crafts, Photo Booth, Treats, Tea and Hot Cocoa Bar, Nail Station.  This tea is open to anyone between Preschool through early middle school age.

Tickets are $30 for 1 Adult & 1st Child and $10 for each additional child or relative (please limit to 3 children per adult). CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE. For questions about the event contact denise.jaszka@yahoo.com

VanWazer more than meets the challenge at BG

This spring, Ian VanWazer will begin his fourth season playing on the boys varsity volleyball team at Buffalo Grove High School. In addition to dealing with attacking the ball past opposing blockers and staying on top of his schoolwork, the all-conference outside hitter has also dealt with epilepsy for most of his life.  Read Story

After shooting 33 percent and 19 percent against Antioch and Lake Forest, respectively on Saturday at the Lake Forest MLK tournament, Buffalo Grove coach Steve Kolodziej submitted a request. BGHS Teacher Honored With Education Award

Buffalo Grove High School English teacher Anna Schultes received the Alumni in Education Award from the Council of Educators in Polonia and Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU).  Schultes received her Master of Science Degree in Instruction from Northeastern Illinois University. In addition to teaching English, Schultes works as an immigration education specialist for Township High School Dist. 214.  Read Story

Constable: Young hoopster makes Bulls as artist

As the tallest player on his youth basketball teams, Dave Zarzynski played on elite travel teams in feeder programs that led him to a starting position on the varsity basketball team at Buffalo Grove High School. So it seems perfectly natural for the 27-year-old to go to work every day at the United Center, where he is a key member of the Chicago Bulls creative services' team of artists. Read Story

BGHW Stampede top IceCats in exciting outdoor game in Rosemont
Chicago Tribune, January 16, 2017
The Stampede draw players from Buffalo Grove, Hersey and Wheeling high schools, and the IceCats come from either of the two schools in Community High School District 128. Forward Connor Kelly, a Buffalo Grove junior from Arlington Heights, registered two goals and an assist. His quick shot and playmaking creativity yielded a goal and assist as the Stampede scored three times in a five-minute flurry during the second period. Read Story

IceCats, BGHW gear up for outdoor hockey game in Rosemont
Chicago Tribune, January 9, 2017
BGHW is a team with players from Buffalo Grove, Hersey and Wheeling high schools. The Stampede are the defending state champions of the Amateur Hockey Association Illinois combined division, which features teams that draw players from multiple schools.  The AHAI state championship games are played at the United Center each year, but Thursday's game at MB Financial Park will bring its own unique atmosphere.

Staff Spotlight

1. What is your name?  Corinne Larson.

2. What department have you/ do you work in?  I am in the Math/Science Department -- I teach College Algebra, Pre-Calculus 76/77 and Algebra 70/71.

3. How long have you been working at BG?  This is my 9th year at BG.

4. Where did you go to high school? I went to William Fremd High School.

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding?  The moment when a student who you've been working with, who has been struggling for a while, FINALLY gets it!  When you see that light bulb turn on and you know they've been working so hard - it's an awesome thing to be a part of!

6. What is something unique about you?  I really enjoy spending time outside doing things with my three kids (ages 5, 4 and 2) and 3 dogs (yes our house is crazy!)  Some of the students at BG have worked with my older two kids at Little Bison (and they will meet the third next year).  I also really enjoy crossfitting and have done several team competitions.  I plan to do a few more this year as well as a Spartan Race!

7. What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor?  What activities at BG do you follow?  This semester I am a cooperating teacher, working with a student teacher from University of Illinois with my Algebra 70/71 class.  I am in my 6th year as a freshman advisory teacher.  In the past I have coached Cheerleading and Girls Gymnastics as well.
