98 Students competed, 49 students brought home 95 medals at last week's district competition!

  • Congratulations to junior trumpet player, Janelle Finton, on her selection to join the “best of the best” at the National Association for Music Education's 2017 All-National Honor Ensembles at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. (see the full story below under BGHS in the News)
  • Kudos to our very own Blue Crew who took time on Thanksgiving Day to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound senior citizens.
  • Congratulations to Varsity Boys Basketball on their 2nd place win over Zion-Benton in the Bison Classic tournament!

Buffalo Grove student among best of the best in nation's music ensembles

Buffalo Grove High School student Janelle Finton will join the "best of the best" for the National Association for Music Education's 2017 All-National Honor Ensembles at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  The selection follows Finton's hard work throughout the 2016-17 school year, when she practiced with dedication to gain a chair in her local, district, and state music honor ensembles.  Read Story

High schools bring friendly competition to winter play

Buffalo Grove and Prospect high schools' Theater Arts Programs will present a humorous theatrical competition for this year's winter play with Comedy Sportz High School League. Students from Buffalo Grove and Prospect high schools will participate and compete against each other at each of the performances, which take place at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2, at Prospect High School, and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9, at Buffalo Grove High School.  Read Story

Buffalo Grove runs to 2-0 by topping Glenbrook South

Buffalo Grove used a pair of 11-point runs to defeat Glenbrook South on Wednesday night at the Bison Classic.  The Bison won 55-49 to improve to 2-0 on the season, and it was their second straight 6-point win. BG defeated Grayslake Central 60-54 on Monday.  Read Story

Oh Captain! My Captain!: Buffalo Grove coach Keith Peterson is taking a nontraditional route with his team this season. Peterson said the Bison will not have captains, though he views four-year varsity player Jack Vaselaney and third-year player Zach Fricke as the main voices on a team with nine seniors.  Read Story

Better start brings better result for Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove's boys basketball team shook off a strong challenge from Zion-Benton on Saturday to claim second place at the Bison Classic.  The Bison opened a 22-point lead in the second quarter en route to a 61-48 win and finished with a 3-1 record for the invite.  Read Story

Rotary connections aid teens' visit to Germany

A pair of juniors from Buffalo Grove High School commanded the room last week at the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights lunch meeting. Lauryn Lintner and Christina Ruterschmidt, both of Arlington Heights, captivated their audience with descriptions of their summer exchange trip taken with Buffalo Grove's German Club to Neu-Ulm, located in the Bavarian region of southern Germany. Staff Spotlight

1. What is your name? Dave Hanson
2. What department have you/do you work in and what do you do?  I work as the Day Master Custodian, but I can wear many hats.

3. How long have you been working at BG? I been here about 3 years. I have been with District 214 for 16 years.

4. Where did you go to high school?  I went to Garland High School in Garland, Arkansas.

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? I find it rewarding when I can place a smile on someone’s face for going out of my way to help where needed

6. What is something unique about you? I treasure the friendships that I have made in the 16 years working with d214. It has given me gratification that I am so lucky to have them.  They have not only been my friends, they are my family.

7. What activities or clubs do you follow? I really enjoyed following football and their great season this fall. Basketball is just starting up and I’m enjoying following that, as well.
