Scouting the MSL East
The Daily Herald, November 16, 2017
Outlook: Coach Steve Kolodziej watched his team grow a lot last year with several underclassmen contributing throughout the season. Now he is hoping that results in a few more wins for the Bison. "We are an extremely athletic group that should be able to frustrate some people on the defensive end of the floor," Kolodziej said. Read Story

Scouting the MSL East
The Daily Herald, November 26, 2017
Outlook: This is the year that coach Keith Peterson has been waiting for. The Bison have kept their core group together for a third year and have added a few wrinkles which may make them one of the top teams in the area.  Read Story

The 32 greatest Illinois high school football teams of all time

Staff Spotlight

1. What is your name?  Richard S. Russell.  Although, if you ask anyone who knows me... I’m Scott.  It’s a problem when you’re headed through passport control and they are not sure if you are R.S.Russell, R. Scott Russell, Richard. S. Russell, or any number of aliases.  I’m kind of an international spy.  :)
2. What department have you/do you work in and what do you do?  I am a proud member of the SS/WL/EL department.  I teach Spanish II and Spanish III Honors.

3. How long have you been working at BG?  My BGHS start date is August of 2017.  I’m brand new and happy to be here!

4. Where did you go to high school?  I am a Mustang by origin, but not of the Rolling Meadows brand.  I am a Downers Grove South High School Mustang.  Random aside, DGS Mustangs are named after the car, not the horse.

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding?  Easy.  The conjugation of verbs.... just kidding.  The best part of my day is seeing my students each day and getting to know them. No joke. I realize that I’m supposed to say that it’s the kids, but it’s true.  I know that we are going to spend time together, get to know one another, learn about languages, cultures, and find a way to make the world a better place through our diverse and shared society.  Not everybody has this opportunity.  Only the lucky ones.

6. What is something unique about you? I speak Spanish, French, and English, I have a very strong dislike of chocolate, I spent my 10th birthday at the Assistant Prime Minister of Iceland’s house, I once golfed with Bill Murray and Ralph Malph, Gorbachev’s bodyguards hit me once, and there are other oddities… feel free to ask any time.

7.   What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor? I spent a decade coaching boys’ and girls’ volleyball, I have been a French Club sponsor, want to be part of Spanish Club here at BGHS, and I have recently have put myself up as a volunteer with the Chicano College Bowl.
