Staff Spotlight
Whippo.jpeg

1. What is your name?  Ronda Whippo
2. What department have you/ do you work in? Math - I currently teach Honors Advanced Algebra.

3. How long have you been working at BG? I have been at BG for 10 years but have been in the district for 18 years.

4. Where did you go to high school?  Urbana High School: Urbana, IL
5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding? The most rewarding aspect of my job is the relationships I form with my students. Helping them see their potential and guiding them to become the best version of themselves is what I aspire to do daily. I love the challenges that each day brings and how together we conquer them. Sometimes it's a difficult mathematics problem, but often it's the daily challenges of life that we work through together. I learn so much from my students and I hope that when they leave me, they leave with a better understanding of the academic material and with a better sense of how they can contribute to making the world a better place by their actions.

6. What is something unique about you?  I have been fortunate enough to travel to Vietnam twice. My mother was born there and after marrying my father moved to the U.S. It was almost 30 years before she was able to go back to see her family. It was an honor and a privilege to be by her side when she was reunited with her siblings. It was such an amazing experience that I went back a few years later. I am looking forward to the day when my girls, along with their grandmother, make the journey to Vietnam to meet our family and to experience the wonders of our heritage for themselves.
