Staff Spotlight

1. What is your name? Karin Stoltz

2. What department have you/do you work in and what do you do? I am the division assistant in the Special Education Department.

3. How long have you been working at BG? This is my 13th year working at BGHS.

4. Where did you go to high school? I attended Maine East High School in Park Ridge, home of the Blue Demons!

5. What part of working at BG do you find the most rewarding?  I enjoy interacting with the students. It's fun getting to know them and building a trusting relationship with many of them. I also work with an amazing staff, which always making coming to work a bit more enjoyable!
6. What is something unique about you?  Well, I guess I can share the fact I am a first born American.  I only spoke german at home until I went to kindergarten. When I was young, I didn't like the fact my family was different and wasn't born here.  As a young adult, traveling to Europe many times, I realized how blessed I was to speak a second language and what an asset it really is.  I make sure to encourage all our students to embrace their first language, for it will only benefit them throughout their lives.

7. What activities or clubs do you follow? I do not coach or sponsor a club or sport, but I am an avid reader of the 'paper' version of the Daily Herald, by which I follow our student athletes and keep up on all other school activities/events.  I am also a big fan of our school musicals and plays.
