BGPA Communication and Link
Buffalo Grove Parent Association
is requesting your HELP!
The BGPA has been in operation for many years, providing services and activities to the students of BGHS.  Listed below are a few of the things BGPA offers each school year:
·   Student directory
·   Mini Grants - which help fund student clubs
·   Senior Scholarships
·   Snacks provided during Finals Week for all students
·   Arrange and subsidize a Post Prom
·   Support breakfast for graduating seniors
·   Maintain a resource fund for emergency needs of students or clubs
While these are all great activities and functions, we need VOLUNTEERS to be members of our Executive Board to head these committees.  Most of our current board members have been performing these duties for many years as their children have passed through Buffalo Grove.  Eighty percent of our current board will have their last child pass through the BGHS halls next year.  Here stands our problem… we are in need of new people to sit with us next year, learn the ropes, and take over the roles.  Many of you have helped in your elementary and middle schools over the years.  There is still a need at the high school level (and it is WAY easier and less time consuming than the younger schools)!!  By the way, we ONLY have seven meetings all year.  Please give this some thought.  We are at a crossroads of having to dissolve the BGPA if we do not have people step forth and assist in these roles.
If you have any interest or would like to discuss the positions, please call or email:

Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Kolodziej teaching Trigonometry in Honors Geometry!

1.What is your name? Kim Kolodziej

2. What department do you teach in/ what courses do you teach? I teach in the Math/Science department.  I currently teach 70s Geometry (sophomores) and 90s Geometry (freshman)

3. How long have you been teaching at BG?  I have been teaching at BG for 7 years and 8 years total!

4. Where did you go to high school? I went to Maine South high school in Park Ridge.

5. What part of teaching to you find the most rewarding?  I absolutely love the relationship aspect of teaching.  I know math is one of the most "un-liked" subjects and quite honestly, I believe your teacher shapes a lot of those opinions.  If I can change just a few students negative thoughts on the subject over the year, I would definitely call that a success!

6. What is something unique about you? A few things come to mind when asked this question.  One thing unique about me is that I actually met my husband here at BG.  We both taught math and coached Freshman girls basketball together!  Another unique "tidbit" is that running is my passion and I ran the Boston Marathon in 2010!

7. What activities or clubs do you coach/ sponsor?  Currently, I am involved with tutoring in the Literacy Lab after school.  I used to coach basketball and I am still a big supporter of the team, seeing as my husband is the head coach! :)
